This afternoon didnt manage to get down to river till 4:30 and the wind was honkin, so me and my mate wanted to stay out longer than what the light would let us. It was 6:30 when we got in, sailing out of South Perth Yacht Club, it was crazy, couldnt see what the waves were doing in front of you until you had about a tenth of a second before you hit them. Suddenly you'd find yourself in the air without wanting to be or knowing you were going to be.

Definately one of the biggest thrills ive had windsurfing so far, very dangerous, stupid, and risky, but so very very very cool.

i suggest to everyone that they try it on their local river/ lake / whatever. but not the ocean, too many sharks

Mr No one has done it at night in the ocean! at Scarborough I think he said he could only see the waves when they broke and then he could see the white water.
I think he should change his name to Mr Hellman.

G'day Mike x 2, funny you should mention it.
Just got back from a late one now. Took off from Shoalwater cafe at 5, sailed across to Long point until dark (it was going off!, I didn't want to leave), sailed over four reefs on the way back ( made it over three )and got back by 6.30 via Point Peron.
It was a full moon last night and thought if I stay out long enough it might come out again. The sail Juice spoke of was from 11 to 2am until the 2/3 moon went down, there the kind of sails you remember.

Not bad, we did a similar thing at Bondi Beach, sailed into the night with a 30k wind, some of the public thought we were lost and called the police, Dan and I looked on at what they were searching for, it was us. That was a great sail.

12 years ago, 17km off wello I got shipwrecked on a 6.8 when it blew up 35 knts after sailing to the outside of Morton Isl. The channel seven chopper couldn't find me but at 10pm the coast guard did on a channel marker

Lots of Xylume sticks and a full moon.
Lots of crew at Woodies had a blast.
It was a few years ago now, might have to give it another try

3 mates and I were sailing at Narrabeen Lake one time when it got dark and we didn't want to stop so we all parked our cars along the shore line, turned on the hi-beams and sailed around laughing our heads off for the next hour having a blast. It really is quite a weird sensation not being able to see the chop in front and having to react super quick. Great fun though, always wanted to do it again.

Glad to see you guys are getting onto it, hope you don't run into each other. Lake Catharabar is pretty cruisey at night, done the headlight thing there. Sailed beside burswood casino which looks good when lit up after getting caught in a traffic jam, gave an avon decent boat a drag and won! In the ocean the cray pots scare the he77 out of you when they jump out in front with no warning. And what's those little black triangles you see out of the corner of your eye
I wasn't night sailing at Wello, the boom gave out 4 or 5hrs earlier.

"What are your Ch'lenge/Personal Sp'dsailing Goals?" from the GPS and Speedsailing Thread. Mine is quite simple..... to see my name in No 1 position on the GPS Top 10 20007 at the GPS Speedsurfing website. Only problem is :
1 Dave White 46.2
2 Mal Wright 45.5
3 Tony Wynhoven 45.0
4 Martin van Meurs 44.6
5 Chris Lockwood 44.3
6 Steve Thorp 43.9
7 Luke Wigglesworth 43.8
8 Bob Cunningham 43.6
9 Andrew Daff 43.2
10 Ian Fox 42.9
plus about another 300 speedsailors worldwide. My solution to this slight hiccup was to go out for a speed session at midnight on New Years Eve. I am fortunate to live on a property which has a frontage onto Lake Connewarre which is a 35 knot plus speedstrip. We had a NY Eve party at the rotunda overlooking the lake. Shortly before midnight I drove down to the watersedge and parked with high beams over the water. Unfortunately light winds meant that I spent the session schlogging but it was pretty spectacular when the fireworks at nearby Barwon Heads lit up the night sky. This year I may try and organise a Serenity for 2008 New Years. After a quick session I rushed up to the house to be the first sailor worldwide to post a speed session for 2007 and logically jump to the top of the GPS Top 10 20007. Unfortunately the GPS Speedsailing website located in Holland some 10 hours behind us could not accept a date of 1/1/2007 when it was still 2006 in the Netherlands. By the time this hitch was sorted out Daffy and the rest of the Sandy Point crew had posted some daylight 2007 sessions from Sandy Point and foiled my plan. Now that the cat is out of the bag I am concerned that the Kiwis will use their 3 hour advantage to get a jump on me for 2008.
I also like to get out at sunset for a sail on the winter solstice before enjoying a pagan bonfire with offerings to the windgods for the following year. I figure that this year must have been a shortage of vestial virgins offered as we have had no wind since.

Hey Frant what's happened to the Cremaster website? It hasn't been updated in months. I used to read about all your exploits and am now missing them. What's going on?

Red and myself used to think that Cameron deliberately neglected to update the website when one of us managed to beat him in a session A very competitive and easily miffed young lad he is. Unfortunately the truth is that Cam is out of action for windsurfing for a few months and is also not updating the Cremaster site.
