Hi guys and gals,

The next Windwanderers meet will be at Redcliffe this saturday the 18th of Nov.

At this stage the loaction will be Sutton's beach and start time 1pm. If the wind turns to a North East direction we will go to Queens Beach North. i will post friday night to confirm outcome.

The Sponsor for the Redcliffe meet is Surf Connect. as we all know, padi is the King of the gear swap. so to pay tribute we are also holding a gear swap.

We will also be holding a Movember contest. Ladies allowed to compete as well. the best Mo will be voted on the day by the faithfull at the BBq.

So to confirm the agenda.

Uh oh Gestalt,

I sincerely hope you can break the hoodoo that's hung over the last few meetings, but the magic eight ball seems to think otherwise:

Q: Will the wind be good for the WindWanderers meet this Saturday?
A: Very Doubtful

I think a last minute sacrifice of any windsurfing gear is in order. I sacrificed a couple of awesome days on the gold coast (Yeah thanks md74 for the comprehensive report ) for a 'holiday' down the coast, complete with a gusty sloppy sail in a river.

cheers nebbian, it was quite a comprehensive report wasn't it, and it was for free!

oh by the way, ive bailed on mo-vember, got 2 weeks in, had a killer chopper going, but wedding anniversery tommorrow, wife was losing respect for me real quickly, so off with the mo! ill post a pick anyways and see how the competition went!

hope the wind blows enough for you on the weekend Gestalt

well guys,

i threw all the formulas, theories and prayer sessions out the window and held off with the announcement until i had seen a pressure chart for the day.

looks like we will get some wind on saturday (15kn). fingers and every other part of my body crossed. will be good to get some more photos for the website of everyone out blasting. but as always in QLD, don't forget the aeroguard or the 8.5m

had a top day at redcliffe.

g0t a 10-15knot ESE which allowed everyone to blast parallel to the beach and run from suttons right down to margate and back through 2 foot waves/swell.

thanks to surfconnect for sponsoring the meet and everyone for joining in.

next stop the xmas party at Lake Cootharaba. It will be a 2 day mix of BBQ, beer, camping, social sailing and partying. for those that are keen, on the sunday the LCSC will be holding social racing, check out the WQ calender. www.windsurfingqld.com/ For the rest of the crew that aren't racing we'll be out on the lake again making the most of it. check out www.windwanderers.com locations guide for the guff about the lake.

also it was decided yesterday to bring about a format change. the advantage with the WindWanderers is there is no requirement to obtain safety permits in advance. this means that the club can make last minute venue changes or meet announcements. so what we will do in future is this.

each month an area and sponsor will be announced. for eg. blah blah to sponsor the march meet in brisbane. then i will watch the forecasts. when a saturday pops up with a decent forecast i will advise everyone to be prepared. then on the thursday or friday once the forecast is looking definate i will give a green light for the meet and announce the beach. so if it is a brisbane meet and we get a forecast SE i will announce victoria point, if it is a NE, NW or W then Wello. this will allow us to pick the windiest days at the most suitable venue for a particular wind direction.

the idea being that everyone goes windsurfing when it is windy. there is a limit for some as too how many weekends in a month can be used as sailing days. so this way we will be at the beach when most others are likely to be at the beach. effectively it is an attempt to further the goal of taking the club to the members rather than making the members come to the club.

cheers

Windwanderers - I think you are on a winner if Mr Pryde knows what he is talking about...

quote "If windsurfing is to get any growth in future, we need to create club or group activity such as exists in yachting because this puts a social structure around the sport, which is essential for the sport to prosper. Wives and girlfriends and sailors themselves need somewhere to interact socially after and around the sport. We are trying to encourage this with our RS:X Class but frankly, we are finding the going tough. "

Maybe neil could provide some nice new gear to give-away... since you're on such a winner.
