It could get messy

Elmo is heading for the waves today

I'd be happy with a cutback and 2 bottom turns anything after that is Gold

Good luck well not too much, cant have you having that much fun so soon, first time back.
But for f... sake take it easy, plenty days left yet, and you don’t want the fatigue syndrome on top of the skeeta bite as well.
Off down the shop, got an old sail that's wrecked, and the boys want the bits.

Well that was fun.....Kinda

Wind looked like it was picking up here with 20-30 forecast and a swell up to 2.5 so loaded 4.5 up to 5.8 and optimistically my (small) 91L wave board.

Get down the beach and rig at the boat ramp (first boo boo) and find the wind is there but not going of like promised so rig the 5.8

A couple of runs to suss settings and start working upwind to Avi, get 1/3rd of the way up I hear a couple of "pinks", look down at my harness lines and see the rope inside has parted, start heading back look at the other one and thats gone as well. Back to the car, phew I've a couple of old spares which I can use.

Take 2
Head up wind get all the way up to the point, short smoko break on the shore to get heart rate down then go out again, head out (chugging) get out back wind drops of more, chug back to shore. That went well at least I didn't have to swim.

A drink and a 1/2hr nap on the beach later, Hardie and Decrep have been giving a good demonstration of light wind wave sailing.

The wind decides to pick up a bit (Hardies almost on the plane)so it looks like I can give it a go.

Head out in the harness on the plane and only one little love tap on the reef just to let it know I haven't forgotten where it is.

Couple of runs, no waves (smeg) out the back fluff another gybe bury the mast, I'm starting to loose my sense of humour now, lots of choice language, manage a water start (finally) and splatt (more choice language) get up in front of a semi decent wave, I'm up, I'm on the Plane, I'm working up wind great, What can I possibly do to stuff this up???
Nothing
It seems Hueys taken pity on me

2 bottom turns 2 cutbacks

Couple of more runs kida bita of a wave (maybe).

Start to head back the coordinations shot to the crapper pump sail, cancan of the board not once but 3 times, haven't got the steam left to get it back on the plane to head back so it's chuggarama again.

Looks like I'm gonna have to keep working on my fitness, pick my fights a bit better conditions wise and park up at the point car park.

Going to also look at upgrading my board before next season, it felt like a barge compared to what I've been belting around on.

Oh well, not the best sesh in the world but for the first time back on the waves in 6 months it felt pretty damn good.

Alby

ps,

Sods law struck as well, hit the shore, bloody wind comes in better

As I said I would've have been convalescing in an Arbovirus Rehabilitation Unit If I had what you had, let alone out there windsurfing.........

Yes, I thought I did an excedllent clinic on how to sail with a 5.5 spinaker in "f" all wind, you shoulda heard the language out there.............

"Fkn Manduraaaaaaaaagh....... no ****en wind....**** all waves..... ****en spinakers.......I want my gero back...."

Well at least you didn't drive for an hour each way on the promise of good winds only to hear a couple of early arrivers say shoulda been here an hour ago.
But the guys did put on a good show of very light wind sailing and the water was nice for a quick swim.
I should have taken more notice of the cloud to the south and saved 2 hours of driving but the hope of an enjoyable afternoons sail in such a great spot won out over good sense.

OH WELL BAD LUCK

Couldn't believe it, hardie & you get to point, -- windstops! all the kites even came in.
I was going to head home while I still could, but couldn't let hardie have the waves to himself, wish I had. I wasn't doing all that well, only had the 4.7 up, just not enough sail to pump onto the wave.

How'd you and the new board go when it was windier early?

When the wind finally kicked in, got a coupla good waves, and the fcken harness line goes pop

What have you & elmo been doing to pop 3 lines between you in the same session???

Back strap further back is quicker!!
Wind not strong enough to notice any benifit from smaller fin.
Went well in the waves, apart from nosediving off the lip on one of the better waves. Haven't done that for ages, hopefully I can make some adjustment in technique to stop that happening.

Hmm think I'll start a new thread on the topic.

My breakages I suspect have come from me abusing my gear in the pursuit of speed
I had a 6.2m RS4 up the previous Monday when it gusting in excess of 30knots, got to the stage where I had to do a few runs unhooked (still sitting on 30) all ended in a bad flogging though

I'm alright for an hour to 1.5 powered up where I can just hook straight in and away, hence the Tim the toolman approach.

But if I chug or have to do some major pumping to get going then it's like someones punchered the fuel tank, the main consequences of which are that the legs go to jelly and I end up very unco.
