Last fall I tried getting involved with this website's forums under another handle which I've forgotten, but since it was the end of our season here in New England, I didn't. Now, although there's a fresh coating of snow outside my window, I expect to be windsurfing soon. Consequently, I'm going to give you a go of it!!!

welcome aboard, or is that back on board
summer is slowly dying here, so I am envious of your upcoming windfilled adventures.

Good winds to you.

And can you please explain to some of our Queensland friends who never need to wear wetsuits what snow is. They may not understand the concept of cold!

Hey, thanks for the quick replies!!! The time change here must favor my posting before daylight. Yes, I was wondering about that wetsuit stuff. It seems to me that everywhere in the states one needs a wetsuit at times. When I sailed in Florida, it was quite necessary in January. Snow, by the way is white. We always have a love/hate relationship with it. Can't you fellas sail in the winter with a wetsuit? You aren't a true windsurfer if you haven't worn holes in one. In actuality, here on Cape Cod, Ma. we can go out in boardshorts for 2 months, July and August, but that's when our winds are rather light. When I lived in Newport Beach, Ca. I don't think I ever saw a surfer without a wetsuit. Even in the summer the water was cold. It's a lot like our water off the coast of Maine. Whatever, I'm going to have lotsa technical questions and feedback on new and old equipment, I hope, this season. If anyone is interested in wet suit sailing, I have a number of them and am waiting for an O'Neil to be delivered from Ca.

Not even a shortie? I started to wear one instead of board shorts as they offer more protection from the harness. Even water temps in the 70's is below your body temp and will drain energy from you. Air temps, though may dictate not wearing any cloths, but a thin shortie has always seemed to me as being comfortable and a good sun guard.

hi beswift,

i like your sense of humour

i am another from the sunshine state and don't were a wettie either. except for maybe 4 weeks in winter. last year i sailed all year and then bought a springsuit at the end of winter. used it twice.

generally find if the wind chill is a bit much a couple of minutes floating in the water warms me up.

Well I find a wettie necessary in winter. I used a 2mm surfing steamer last winter and it wasn't warm enough, so I bought a new 2/3 and that made the weather change. I still haven't used it. Probably wont need it til July or August maybe. If I get cold I get extra stupid and sailing is no fun.

Swift, Brucie, swift. You'd be next in line. These folks have a LOT to learn about you.

Dear Mr. beswift,
Of your many handles you might try theclock, cosmicharlie, weedwart, sinbad, oldsalt, gaastrageezer, tycoonguy, swiftsurfer, quickrig, beachdoser, seamanfirstclass, bigwebsailor, robswift, mistersmith, bighalsey, prljack, skimmer, skirtchaser, gaastraguy, swiftsailor, psychokiter.
Your posts on a multitude of windsurf sites start out innocently and then go to ruin quickly.
Please don't degrade this forum too.

He might want to take up metric as well. Water temps of 70 would see many kiddies in hospital with third degree burns.
Autumnatic, love it. Fall is so our great northern allies can associate it with what the leaves do. That way they know at least one season's name per year
