Hi there
I am trying to get my sister back into windsurfing this summer and am trying to convince her to buy a new board. Currently she is sailing an old f2 axxis (early 90's) with 94 litres volume. She weighs 60kg and is comfortable in the harness and starting to get into the straps. Really i want her to start getting some jibes and water starts as quikcly as possible so she can come wavesailing so can anyone recommend a good board for her to learn these skills on. And for Mike, aka KAOS 69, she is far too old for your likes, she's 20!

ive got a bombora 284 which i am selling and upgrading to a new board. It is what i had all the way through my learningn stage, i even went wave sailing on it once at rotto once i had learned how to use harness and straps. Its a great board, it would float her, as i am 60 kg too, and its great for learning through to blasting along at 20+ knots like a have been doing.

150 dollars is what im looking for, but i am willing to negotiate.

While im here do you know of anyone who is selling a freeride board 90-105 liters, $350 or under?

cheers,

~Mike~

20 you say. that's just about perfect. send her to the eastcoast and i'll see what i can do!!! Seriously though there is a lack of young women in the sport and they should be given all the support they can get and encourged in the sport. i have been trying to get my girl into windsurfing for ages but with us currently 800km apart it aint to easy and for some reason she thinks all the guys that sailboard are old and sleazy. could be sometruth (well actually quite a bit), but still there needs to be more chicks in this sport.

Sorry mike, not really what we're after, already got one lying round in the shed! More after recommendations at the moment and hopefully going out on a spending spree after exams. I've heard some of the less extreme freestyle boards are great boards for learning carve jibes and straps cos there fairly slow and stable. Anyone sailed F2 airs, older starboard carves etc that can reccomend them?

Hi Davo,

My partner uses a Mistral Switch 97, she's 50kg. This was the board after the Mistral Flow. You should be able to pick up a flow cheaply and also a Switch which had a girly colour scheme. They are a little narrower than the latest trend of wider boards but gybe easily, ride smooth and have a great sail range for a lighter person. The other reason I had to get the switch, this was really important for her, is that there is more board length behind the mast track and you can rest the boom on tail when manouvering for a waterstart. With the newer shorter boards you often can't so it makes the waterstarting a little more involved. Also I have heard good reports on the JP excite ride, great stability, easy ride and gybe.

Hi Davo
I'm still pretty intermediate (only just gybing) but I learnt basically from scratch on a Bic Techno 112L (2003 I think): harness, footstraps, waterstarts & gybes (I'm about 50kg). I know that's bigger than what she's on at the moment, but I'd swear by it. Really stable and a great confidence booster. I've also got a Carve 78 for stronger wind, which handles like a bigger board. Water starts no problem. Heaps faster than the Bic tho so a bit scary for a newby coming into gybes. Hope that helps.

hey Davo,
Jane can borrow my freesex for a bit if she wants. is she still just river blasting coz i may need to spend a few days on the river teaching a few boys how to sail. but i would be good to have it nearby to use if the swells up and the wind is fickle.
Anyway i will let u know how my new (2nd hand) quiver of zones go when we go up to lano on sunday.

Davo, John should still have my CarbonArt 100l freeride in SOS , It's the easiest board to gybe in the universe and it's virtually being given away - my missus loved it and cracked her gybes on it.shes about 57kg it's a great all-round board-even had it out on a light day in Gnarlers with a 23cm fin!
Go get it

Can't remember the price ask John, But it is cheap and was a great board for Perth, River or sea. If you get it- Enjoy!
