this is a quote from ken ring's site...

2007 for Brisbane (ABC Brisbane)
2007 on the whole a slightly wetter year, 1238/1185, that's about 9% wetter than average for Brisbane, first it will be a drier summer because we expect about a third of the average rainfall for the season, then a wetter autumn because of a cyclone coming through in mid April, and another in May, giving autumn 3x the rain average, particularly around 13-15th April and 4-10th May, and there could be thunder, hail, gale force winds and flooding. Those are new moon times and when the moon is closest to earth for that month, so the tides will be higher and the rivers will back up. And that should be the extreme weather event for the year for SE QSLD.

and what he says about cyclones....

Cyclones:
In the middle of Jan, strong winds on coast at the end of January,
monsoonal trough from mid Feb onwards,
March a pretty wet month, 2nd wk worst
April: a possible cyclone mid April, so wet the second and third weeks
May: another cyclone mid May, so wet in the first week and in the last few days
June: wet in the first week
July, wet in the second week
Aug, wet in the last few days
the second half of November could be quite stormy,
then the biggest event of the year a cyclone in the last week of Dec which may peak for you around the 30th but will have been building up all through the last week of December.

I say bring it on.... please!

Bollocks? Is this astrology. Astrology, geomancy, and reading the entrails of chooks seem to have a lot in common with weather forecasting. So why is it that weather forecasting is respectable and all else is derided. Its sort of like the church claiming a monopoly on mysticism.

Even a sceptic must maintain an open mind or stand accused (ironically) of bigotry. So now Mark, you are doomed to check the weather against this forecast or stand accused of empty bigotry, because you cant possibly know for sure that what you say is true.

A sceptic is not a bigot if he disagrees with what is said on the basis of some form of logic, thus closing their mind to BS ie church vs evolution... church = bigot, evolution = closed mind.

On a slightly different note, I believe like most meteorologists are terrible at forecasting (excusable) but did anyone hear the "expert" from the pacific tsunami warning centre yesterday... something along the lines of well we dont really know if there will be a tsunami, we will wait and see if the solomons gets hit then we will know for sure, all we can do is wait and watch the level of the water. Major wtf there. They get paid how much to forecast that, governments waste money on remote sensing gear just to wait and see??? I think we've just discovered where the dropout meteorologists have ended up.
