ive just chopped my rrd wave from 2.45 to 2.34 and added 1/2 kg to the weight of the board, taken the rocker out to 4mm at 1.2mt from tail, to 52mm at 1.8, sharpened the rails, and added carbon stringers from front of fin box to 750, then laminated the entire bottom of the board with 3.oz unidirectional carbon,so i had to sacrifice weight for a stiffer and flatter board with a wave profile for faster jibes, any comments, or have i waste'd my time

If that's it finished, nice job!!!
Not sure if flattening the rocker that much will make the gybes a lot faster, but it will make them less tight, should increase straight line speed thou.
Not familar with RRD construction, but I'd be surprised if they weren't stiff enough, most good modern boards have enough carbon down the back.

The proof however's in the pudding, when are you going to take it out for a test run???

yeah think so, tried all sorts of stuff over the years, herringbone, crowsfoot, twill, think they are all similar, and conform much better than close weave 50:50. These days I'm using vacuum to make stuff go where I want.

yer but its had to control the vac, unless you use full foam sandwitch, and it has to be contoured unless it wont bend, and without the correct valve you can crush your board try unidirectional carbon and tape the edges with 1" 3oz satan weave tape, tape first , let it cure , then laminate with the uni with a wheel its easy and saves heeps of filler

Are you talking about Divinicel not bending? If so, just heat it up a bit and it will make any shape you want.
If you're having trouble getting your carbon or glass going around corners you dont need to vac it. you can either tape it up or just glad wrap it. Use some peel ply to get a nice finish.

Keef, You should have a go at making some boards. If you're doing as much as you are you should be able to do one from scratch without too much more effort.

Not sure what you're saying here, sounds like resin infusion. I've never tried that. I just do a normal layup and stick it in the bag. With peelply and a soaker layer if I want to reduce weight.

what im saying is to vac bag is you need a valve to control the suck if you dont have a valve you can crush the foam, and to vac succsesfully you need a bleeder film, and a breather, and then the bag, if you dont have the breather you can't get an even suck and all that stuff meen $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$"s

my next board to modify is a drops 90ltr full carbon kevlar sandwitch ,it has good clean rails and it wont take much to chop it down and you can get one of those for about $300 and would cost about $150 to modify even with a tuttle box

Not that much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Made my own regulator, don't use a bleeder valve. Have a big old gas cylinder as vacuum reservoir, an old automotive vacuum gauge from one of my old cars. Started of with an old fridge compressor as pump. Once the bag is sucked down pump runs about 3secs every minute. There's details online somewhere of how to make a regulator from a car distributor vacuum spark advance.
The wife's quilting shop quite often has cheap quilting wadding, works great as a bleeder layer. the most expensive stuff is the peelply, I've heard stories of people trying alternatives and not being able to peel it.
