Don't open your eyes under water. Unless you really have to. If you see a shark, whip the contacts out anyway

Are they coming out under water or just while sailing?
I have been wearing contacts while sailing for 4 years and I don't think I have had any come out. Have you had the fit checked? The optometrist should be able to see if the ones you have move enough but not too much on the eye. If they fit well, then they take a bit of effort to come out.
Can you wear sunglasses over the contacts while sailing for more protection?
