caught my first ever wave there about 2 yrs ago,

massive early season swell, whole of corros closing out, only had a few hrs there and there was bugger all wind, only one other euro sailin. had to go out and see what all this fuss was about....

grovelled out on my ol 96 fish and a big sail...

kept heading out...hey these waves are nice and fat easy to get over.....

1/2 way out, hmmmmm this is getting a bit scary....lets try and muster a bit of speed to nail a gybe coz i don't think i'll be able to waterstart.....

holy f**k, green monster aproaching, did the flakiest, wobbliest chicken gybe ever, 7 seconds laters it picked me up.... and with suprising ease i went straight down the face and let it push me all the way back in, no bottom turns, no top turns, straight liner all the way..........

HOOKED 4 LIFE thanks cozzaz

It was the start of my third season of windsurfing in 2005. Made the trip in October and met my good friend Hardie there. First sighting of corros and I was greeted with epic 25knots and some decent swell. I will upload the photo I took which I hold dear to my heart as if it was my child I spent five days there with the breeze comming in about 10am every morning starting from 15knots and blowing to 20 to 30knots by dark Everyday had waves! One day we were given 4m swell!!! I windsurfed for 6 hours each day and was in bed by 8pm every night. The ultimate holiday

Ahhh Corro's.....

The the place of dreams indeed. I first sailed there back in 1989. I had my trusty Warren Thompson 8'10", and a NP World Cup Wave 4.4.

It was one of my first real wavesailing experiences and I'll never forget it. A howling southerly and a decent (half to three quarter mast) swell. Building awesome speed in the run across the inside of the reef and then whooompa!! Into the ramps.

6, 7, 8 jumps on the way out before the monsters on the outside rear up. A nicely-timed gybe right in the sweet spot before the lip crashes down and a scorching run back in for another crack at it.

Corro's was where I first experienced the incredible sensation of a fully committed back loop...and I wasn't even trying to loop.
Speed, physics and Huey conspired to spin my ass thru the air like Angulo on acid...I never even looked like landing them. Mostly I had so much momentum that I over-rotated and did one and half loops before smacking the water back first!!

The adrenaline was so high I didn't feel the pain. Sailed from noon til six for two days in those conditions.

It's a magical place.

Corro's

The best Corro's storey I have ever heard was one morning before the wind had picked up a group of sailors were sitting around there camp site this was back in 1999 so you could camp pretty much any where then out of no where this guys comes screaming through the bush swinging a steel bar monkey style and starts smashing into the tents and destorying the place while yelling something about Cuppa Chomps. then he disappeared as quickly as he came. Bit you have heard this one King of the Point.

There was a huge lizzard in the tent ,and one of the girls GOT scared had 500 CHUBBER CHUBS spill out on to the ground.

Sorted the hungry bung arra form that camp

amen to that

i've got a memory etched into my brain from late this season

Late on in the afternoon after about 5hrs sailing, caught the last wave of the day with MR JUICE, about 500m north of where everyone else was,,,long long long fat wave, enough room for 4 or 5...heaps of turns and big cheezy grins.... pure gold....

i went to corros for the first time over the easter break for uni. Myself, my brother, and my mate. Coming into geraldton some asshole cop followed us from a 90 zone to a 70 zone while we were doin 29k's over, so $250 and 6 demerit points later for my brother, we arrive in geraldton. That day he also breaks his boom and blows out a panel tryin forwards. Good day for him!

Every nite was drinking in the tent, and every day like 4 hours of tryin stuff. The whole holiday for me was just me wanting to do my first forward loop, though on the second day i flat landed my 2003 evo and put a big crack in it but then i used my brothers board and we took turns cos we were so knackered from all the drinking and bad sleep and windsurfing. on the last day i got my first forward, on film too!! it was an epic holiday, with 20-25knots each day and good swell.

im just glad i can finally say i can forward..even though ive only done 2 after trying about 15 and nearly gettin knocked out on one.

So if my calculations are correct your brother was doing 99kmh in a 70 zone? The speed signs are clearly posted. Two 70 signs on both sides of the road. Im sure King Of The Point wouldnt want some asshole kid doing 99kmh past his house? Do the crime, do the time

Loads of good sailing to be had there spent about 3 weeks there last year and had some epic conditions at meet some great friends.

Next year think I am goin to invest in a 3.5m sail as the wind was howling around xmas time this year with good size waves.

Cant believe there are plans which may destroy it. I hope they dont end up building the port upwind at spot X. (See Gero windsurfing website for details)

You dont have to race down the beach in Geraldton the winds always there ,Its getting home before 10pm day light saving time. Now thats when u gotta speed and the trouble starts.
Flat tyres and being bogged dosnt always work
Mind u a fine would indicate u were making some sort of effort.
wouldt it

I shouldn't bag my family and friends, but I know they aren't going to read this, so what the .....
We were staying at Kalbarri last January for a week and I said I was going to Coros for the arvo. Foolishly, my wife & 2 kids, wife's friend, her 3 kids, wife's friend's boyfriend with his 3 kids and his 2 quad bikes all decided to come too. Just for the 160k drive. And it's cranking! About 30kts. Overpowered on a 4.2. Sensational- biggest jumps I've ever done.
But the wife, wife's friend, & wife's freind's boyfriend decide to set up their beach shelters so they can sit out of the sun. In 30kts. If they'd had strings attached they could have called themselves kiters, and I think some kiters actually recovered their shelters for them after they were blasted downwind. So after about 10 minutes, the wife's friend, the wife's friend's boyfriend, his 3 kids and her 3 kids get jack of wrestling with the beach shelter, decide that quad-biking in a sandstorm isn't fun, so they pack up and head back home. My wife and kids retreat to read magazines in the car until I'm shagged about an hour and a half later.
No-one ever volunteered to go with me anymore. Ah, solitude.
