Hey Stu

Did your 201 come with a cable that is for a serial port And, your laptop can only take USB What is the story with Garmin and their STUPID serial ports

I solved this problem by getting myself a serial to USB adaptor from my local computer shop, about $40.

EDIT: Divaldo, not Dicks! They had NO idea what I was on about when I went there (first[}:)])

i purchased a usb to serial adapter about a week ago for my garmin off ebay, it shipped from hong kong & arrived in around a week.
It cost around $8 delivered - a lot cheaper than anywhere over here. Check ebay item# 120141623181
i got mine to work after a bit of stuffing around, the data garmin to serial cables can be found cheap on there too
there's always dick smiths if you cant wait

Garmin in Australia still only have serial port leads so for now its the serial to usb adaptor . With alot of this sort of gear we in Australia only get the leftovers from the american market.

I think the problem is the USA sees the USB as a second class country
