i read this on the gaastra web site.

does anyone have any suggestions for lub..

Before rigging a new sail, coat the mast top section all the way to the area above the boom with a dry lubricant, or wax. This lubricant will eventually coat the inside of the luff sock, making it very easy to rig your sails.

cheers

What about spray on silicone, such as 3M scotch guard?

I'm sure this would help the mast slide in, but could it damage a mast or luff pocket?

cheers harrow,

not to sure why gaastra recommend dry lubricant.

i managed to track this stuff down. Mclube sailkote which i can get from whitworths... so i'll give it a try.

just about all the sail damage i have encountered has been the mast sleeve tearing. so i hope this stuff will help.
