Iused to be a sparky, both here on the Gold Coast and the snowy mountains before i moved up, had my own contracting gig, then did air conditioning, as I was licensed for both, sold the business in 97 and kind of flaked along ever since. I no longer have any trade licence. So i cant fit any power points for any friends lol.

well, get your apprenticeship out of the way, and subbie yourself out to others, you will get your freedom that way. And by being a sparky now you will have a sweet quiver built up to put in the back of your SS commy ute!

I have always thought it would have to be roofie (doing corrugated iron roofs) or industrial shed building. Carrying a 6m sheet or colourbond is suicidal in anything more than 10 knots. Consequently, home they go....

Food industry could be good, used to work in a fruit and veg shop, finished at 2pm, perfect for those summer afternoon sea breezes...

Or, a baker, finish at 8am-9am, home for a sleep and into the water by 2-3pm

Or like me you could work in advertising and sit on windsurfing forums all day talking to windsurfers....

Shift work. Used to work for a newspaper when I left school for 11 years. When I discovered windsurfing it was cool. In the late 80's I was clocking up an average of 230 days sailed a year.
Then stupid me got into the windsurfing industry when it was dying, doh!!!!
Greeny knows what im talking about
Now mgment weekends are it or the occasional after work sesh.

Do it like me. go to a different country (preferably one with a unlogig and slow goverment), apply for a visa and have at least one full year of windsurfing while you are not allowed to work. So nobody can tell you are lazy. And the best is, you have to go for a windsurfing holiday every three month.
By the way i am also a sparky.

Firefighter

2 days + 2 nights work, then 4 days off. Or think of it as 2 days work & 6 days sailling.

Cheers,
Bob.

Professional windsurfer would be a nice job. getting payed for what you love to do.
Keep on practicing.

I dont know if windsurfing instructor would be much fun, but you dont have any time delay between work and hobby.

RETIRED!!!!!!
Sail when ever I want to. (as long as the old back is holding up)

Don't waste your money on frippery, spend it wisely and budget for early retirement.

There are three sparkies in my windsurfing associates including me. I haven't worked as one for years, doing electrical design work now. I am wondering the same as you though. I never seem to have enough time to do everything I want or need to, and I am usually too stressed to enjoy life to the full. Only on the water can I stop worrying and have some fun.

Can do if you have to have the latest and greatest each year.
I survived on secondhand rigs before I retired, and am fortunate enough to enjoy making my own boards.
