i've never flown with sailing gear, but fly around heaps for work, and sometimes have to take heavy machinery bits as luggage. i weigh 73Kg, and sometimes get stung for having a few Kg over the baggage limit. but then i look around the check-in line, and there's always some "larger people", who'd easily tip the scales at over 100 Kg, and they are allowed the same weight of baggage as me. is this fair? or am i just being discrimatory against "larger people"? hope i don't offend any budding speed record holders with this!

hey easty... it's no ones fault that you couldn't afford a turkey this xmas to pack on some extra pounds.

If excess luggage is a problem for you I'd suggest you try flying Virgin Blue... they have some pretty sweet deals around taken a little bit of extra gear/ weight in the cargo hold.

Of course I wouldn't go as far as suggesting that anyone over 100 kgs should have to fly in the cargo hold. Although one of those big doggy containers might be large enough...
