Ha that brings back memories when I was still at school (1986) and two mates and I threw some clothes (in garbage bags) and several 750ml bottles of bundy rum (we bought for about $12 each) into backpacks and sailed our boards to Great Keppel Island. We dumped all our gear in the dunes and used our sails as make shift tents which kept the dew of us. Being drunk made it easier to sleep in the sand under a sail although not a lot of that got done anyhow.. To fund our trip we sold most our bottles of rum to guests for $30 as the resort only sold rum bottles by the nip ($70 from memory). We'd hang out in the wreck bar spending up big with our profits. Anyhow enough reminiscing........

Sounds like fun and more than achievable although being a beginner I'd be concerned about having to deal with unforeseen weather conditions and the added difficulty of gear strapped to the board. Doing it with a few experienced mates and taking some extra safety precautions (flares, mobiles in waterproof pouches, epirbs etc) would be prudent also.

Gday, im just a beginner, so have very little experience. My question is, have people done extened overnight trips with sailboards? For instant sailing up the coast with basic camping gear in a small waterproof pack strapped forward of the sail on a bigger board?

Going XC on a sailboard now? Your've got XC fever.

As long as the gear can't come loose or wear it in a backpack it's doable, thought about it myself, it's getting back that is the problem. May try it with the PHG.
