Been using the Wave MC's for about a year now, best value for money sail you can buy. I have the 5.3, 4.7 and 4.2 and they all rig on a 400 skinny. They also rig on normal masts without a problem.

I have the Wave MC's in 5.7, 5.3 and 4.7m. I'd buy the 6.1m but they've run out this year!

They've taken a punishing from the waves and keep coming back for more, they're great price, look good and work.

hey md74... Gun apparently shifts around 15k sails in Germany every year. They usually get good reviews in the German mags. Wording in the test is usually along the lines of "sails are great but not as good as Neil Pryde or North because they spend more add dollars with us".

I think it really comes down to what style sail you like. Neil Pryde, Gaastra, North, Gun essentially all have their own feel. Some people like Pryde other don't... I'd say the same goes for Gun. Because Gun cuts out the dealer the end consumer benefits from a 20-30% cheaper sail.

Are you kidding????
Go and try these sails back to back, quality sails like North and Pryde kill these things. You shouldn't comment on this unless you have done it- this forum is full of second hand information ,guess work and arm chair experts. Please only comment on what YOU KNOW to be the FACT.

best way is to try b4 u buy or word o mouth...windurf mag reviews are average. they will never slate a brand just incase they loose future $$$ revenue, and who ever has the 4 page write up with a couple of full page adds gets the best board/sail review....

He quoted some real facts - Guns sail _are_ cheaper because they avoid the middleman. How about *you* respond with with facts rather than simply criticise.

And if you bothered to read the original question, personal opinion is what was being asked for.

Winddude I think what Junior is trying to say that North/Pryde etal spend big buck on advertising/marketing including these magazines so they are semi obliged to say their sails are good, or at least just better than the competition; their sails are not necessarily better.

As he said most brands have their own 'feel' and shaping techniques. Not every sail is for everyone, personally I'm not a big fan of the prydes but I love the feel of the Norths; its horses for courses mate. For the price Gun provide a pretty solid product imo.

I was in Germany last year, got some gear at great prices.
I can understand people are apprehensive to purchase without seeing the goods. I did my research and am very happy with my purchases.
I have mainly used Pryde sails for over 15 years and so far have found no difference in the quality of the Gun sails.
They are well built, sail well and are great value for money.
I have been using them for over a year now.
Buy one and try so you won't lose too much if you are disappointed.
Like everything in life we all have different tastes.

Winddude (and others),

I have posted on here more than 20 times saying I have owned every major brand of sail except Severne. I have used probably 75% of all sail brands. I completely agree with Junior - I like the feel of powerful sails with a deep draft and a pull from quite far forward. I have used Arrows sails (the aeriels) which have this set-up and I loved them, and I have used Prydes and Gaastras and couldn't get on with them.

Gun sails suit my sailing. As for quality I'd agree that some makes are better than others, but if you look at the sails that were destroyed last Saturday at Wanda, I do believe one was a month old Pryde....

As for $$$ spent on advertising I don't fully agree with any of you. About 3 or 4 years ago I was looking at buying a free-ride sail. The Windsurf mag that did a relevant test had a picture of a Naish sail on the front cover which was their free-ride sail and was tested at Dahab like all the other brands. Let's just say that there was no review of that Naish sail in the magazine because it was so uncomplimentary, Naish saw the review and asked them to remove it. This has happend more than once!!

md74, if you're ever Sydney way drop me a line and if it's windy you can give the MC's a go.

Happy sailing!

thanks for the input lads. appreciated, I think my issues have been using the wrong sail, regardless of brand in the wrong circumstance, ie ive been using a freestyle/flat water sail in the surf, so I have found myself damaging gear and getting disillusioned with the bigger brands.

happy summer winds to everyone
