WOW, you've found an app that measuers the length of the wind!
Not sure how much use it will be, but have fun with it.

I tried one years ago, but my thick phone cover affected it's accuracy.

used it in the weekend. It said 10knts and I couldn't get planing with a 7.8 until it picked up later, so about right. Intend to use it every time I rig up and compare it to my gut instinct about what sail to use. I suppose the only way to really know is to buy a calibrated windmetre and compare results over time.

It does have a calibration setting.

I can't afford an iPhone, but most trees have a good Wind Meter App.

Can't find one with a Wind Metre App though. Maybe an Apple Tree?

Have it on my phone as a curiosity... Actually calibrated it with a wind thingy. It's accurate to a few knots, but dirt on the mic affects it, as does the cover how you hold it .... So by the time you have worked out an average wind speed you could have rigged up !

But for days your not sailing it's great, always great to know its 26 knots when you gear is in the shed!

12 knots if my ears whistle.
20 knots if the gutter on my garage whistles.
25 if my front door whistles.

...actually I go more on white caps, but I admit it changes from spot to spot.
