If person teaching newby was experienced, they probably should have foreseen (with 20/20 hindsight) that any newby is a risk to themselves and anyone within a radius of the mastlength. Scare the kids away for their own safety.
But I wasn't there so I can't pass judgement.
a bit true teach was in the hut since newbie was already comfy with rig however it's the kid's family who also has responsibility for watching out where their son as well
Life is kinda like driving don't you think- don't expect others to be responsible or be doing the right thing

If newbie couldn't foresee the problem obviously they werent in a position to be left alone. Probably the parents don't windsurf either so they would be ignorant to potential problems also- they look across and see their kid looking at a windsurfer with a bunch of other kids.
Here we launch in an area with lots of kids swimming and with them being attracted to shiney/techno looking things (as we all are

) you let them satisfy their natural curiosity but either move or tell them to watch out when it's time to sail away.
and why would we want to discourage their curiosity or have parents run down to the water screaming "jonny look out!" as if it's jaws coming to get them, instead it should be "dad, i want one of those windsurfer things dad dad windsurfer dad"
