Hi, l have a racing dingy background and sometimes get out the old wave board when it blows dogs off chains down here on the Mornington Peninsula. lm interested in racing around the sticks and see where it leads too in competition. I'v run into some of the one design mob at Mordi racing clinic last week end..only coz my skipper no show up with the B14 (trying out again for a bullet in the B14 worlds in Perth..Hope it blows!)

Any one in Oz with a Bic techno 293 2nd handy for sale?

Whats the go with RS-one model that has just come out. Will it get the numbers for Sail Melbourne this November?

These two classes appeal to me coz l'm weighing in at 64kg. so l thought, going by little experience, a 7.8 sail be enough of a handful?

And finally is there any open division sailors in the Bic Techno class, or are they all youths? l dont mind having a debreif with the odd beer occasionally..

Some say that the Techno is very weight-sensitive, but if I recall correctly 64kg is okay. The kids handle the 7.8, so you should be able to.

There is very, very little racing in the class, apart maybe from Brisbane. I think there's two regattas each year maximum in any one state, and since everyone in the Techno class is a youth, most of those regattas are youth only.

The new NP board is getting good reviews and Windsurfing Vic are behind it, as you'd know. I don't think it will get critical mass in NSW (the centre of windsurfer racing apart from the LtL) as we already have FW, One Design, Raceboard and some RSX and Techno racing, but it's probably well suited to Vic.

There are few Raceboarders in Melbourne but they haven't got organised. You're light for that class, but would be deadly in light to moderate stuff. I can give you some contact details if you would like to help kick racing off.

One Designs have the only regular fleet racing in Victoria and they are trying to get something to happen at Sorrento. The nationals will be at Sorrento for the 2012/13 season and 64kg sailors are well suited to the class because of the weight divisions.
This year we are expecting 50+ for the nationals (Port Stephens NSW in January) once again, after getting 40+ in Victoria last season.

Windsurfing Victoria has already started a winter course racing series with clinics and the coming summer series will bring back what we had in the 90s.

Keep an eye on www.WV.org.au and the Victoria forum page for my details.
