We are three guys from Norway who are heading for a four months
windsurfing holiday in WA from late november.

We are basically going to be living out of a car, so we are hoping to
cover quite a bit of ground. However, during the first month or so we
are planning on staying in one place, getting sorted out and getting
as much/good practice and tuning done as possible.

We've heared a lot favorable stuff about both Lancelin and Geraldton,
but which is better? Any suggestions?

any tips on where to get a good deal on gear(need quite a bit), a car,
camping and other stuff? please let me know

thanks in advance

Hmmm..... the suspense is killing me on this one I'm just waiting in anticipation for the usual guys who work in shops to suggest their shop for a good deal on gear.

I would go to Geraldton it's a bigger place when theres no wind. I reckon you'd get stronger and more wind up there than Lano.

For car look in local Sunday paper(Sunday Times) or weekly advertising paper called the Quokka.

The "other stuff" well...... you'd better email Laurie privately about that (he helps me out with his contacts)

You're a shocker Mike!

For details on shops & all the bits you need, check out the excellent website at windsurfwa.com/index.html .. got heaps of info of Gero/Lancelin/shops/weather/car hire .. you name it!

Enjoy .. Laurie

Just to keep Mike happy,

I suggest you go to Windsurfing Perth (www.WindsurfingPerth.com.au)
They have one of the best ranges of windsurf gear in perth, so I am sure that they will have what you are looking for.

Take a look and see for yourself.

Hi Adrian,
Geraldton has a far greater variety of sailing and partying locations than Lancelin.I can help you out with some used camping gear.

regards,

Tim

Guys,
As Bluejuice suggested, we have a free classified paper called the Quokka that is very good. Below are a couple of links for...
vans/buses and utes www.thewestclassifieds.com.au/ and 4 wheel drive sections of vehicles for sale... www.quokka.com.au/template.php/a6f0cf520f0545da9593b3f8b884f27f/search?sSection=0614

Also has used gear in Watersports section www.quokka.com.au/template.php/a6f0cf520f0545da9593b3f8b884f27f/search?sSection=0672 to give you an idea of price. Most shops are cheaper on used gear though.

Other places to consider are Gnaraloo which is a remote station (with limited services and water), Esperance & Margaret River.

Watch out for Drop-Bears and have a safe trip!
