i got myself a 10.9 gaastra nitro 3 from one of the lovely forumites a few months back and figured for xmas i would spring for a mast...

has anyone got any experience with the nitro 3. i need tips on possible mast matches for the sail. as i am going to buy 2nd hand it's not always possible to find a gaastra mast to do the job.

it needs a 550cm mast.

cheers for any tips from people who have used the sail with non gaastra masts or anyone that wants to help figure it out.

They were designed on Fiberspar , Gaasta mast or Maui Sails should work .
Powerex , NP , Severne , KA , North forget it , too stiff down low .
I may know where a fiberspar is , I,ll let you know .

mr love both pryde and fibrespar where both supposed to be too flexy in the tip for gaastra's. (Earlier fibrespar may have been different).

powerex, ka, hypersonic sit pretty much mid way for stiffness profiles so should be safest bet after gaastra/maui.

I had a Nitro 3 10.9 , 9.8 and 11.5 . I can guaranty that the fiberspar 550 is the mast the 10.9 was designed for and the one it work best with . The Pryde is too stiff down low and too soft in the tip , I have used an X9 in that sail. I also used it with
Powerex and KA , really similar in flex to the Pryde .
The only masts that will work "properly " in nitro 3,s are Fiberspar and Gaastra. Of course you can use others but the sail will not behave the way it was meant .
