Hi curac - maybe you could take it back to the shop you got it from to get that suss that out?

Not sure what you mean about "crocked", but I always buy a NP booms because of the tilting head - being really tall, I have the boom a bit higher than average, and the tilting head allows a snug fit on the mast every time .. wicked idea. The quick lug which allows the mast to be bunged in and out is great for fast rigging as well .. as you can probably tell, I'm stoked with mine.

Hope you get it sorted .. I've not had a bogus boom yet.

NP booms do have a rotating head.
For every person who hates the NP boom front end, there is 1 person who loves them.

Go back to Reg and he can check it for you.

its technical name is an articulated head.
NP booms are definitely the go.

.. did watch the "free your mind" DVD or something! (I did it while trying a tabletop, and I'd reckon the stupid feeling far outweighed the other damage )

I bought an x3 last year and the head broke within 6 uses (and I dont wave ride) sent some emails of to NP and they said they would replace the head but i didnt want to risk it hapening again so I put a different style head on and its been good ever since.
I must say the NP booms dont seem to be as well built or made from quality products as some of the other booms Ive seen.

yeah there was a prob with a batch of heads in last years X3 & X5 booms, air in the mix or something but with the replacement theyre as good as.

and laurie the cost of a new carbon boom does out weigh the humiliation,

once in a while you do get a dud! bunch of molded products. NP is great with their backup service. Go to Reg and he will always sort it out for you. That is why i prefer NP over other brands.

yeah i like NP well the NP sails.. but i have a fked NP mast foot.. and my mate has had NP booms and masts that broke pretty quick, and i hear bad things about the masts..
so i like the sails but am weary of the bases, booms, and masts.. (cept for the X9)

They 'Try' and do the same but since I had problems with my Arrows sail I cant say it always happens with all brands. And it would be unaccurate to talk on behalf of other shops...

Most brand name booms today are made for the hugh European market who don't have the same demanding conditions that we in W.A are lucky to experience

After breaking an expensive north boom i took some advice and bought a Hydrodynamics wave survivor boom and have never looked back

I'm currently using the new RD Wave Pro booms which is an awesome design due to the fact that the front half of the boom has been reduced to a 28mm diameter grip for comfort but the back half is still a standard size boom which gives you the comfort of a skinny but the strength and stiffness of a standard boom.

Check out the extensions on most brand name booms and compare them to to the Hydrodynamic booms and your see why these booms are so strong

Their W.A based so they know our demanding conditions and replacement part are no worries

Hope iv been some help
