Hi Shoodbegood

Try Mount Martha. I have not sailed there before but have been tyold it suits SW conditions. Also put your post up in the Victorian section and you might get a few more replies

Hi mate, Dromana & safety beach are good...Safety beach, the spot is right near the servo there is a car park, if it has more south in it, head up a few more minutes further north from there. If it has more west in it, you can also try Mt Martha (the north car park).

If there is too much south in the sw the westernport side of the peninsula would be ok.

i sailed out of Merrkicks beach when the sw change hit on black saturday. smooth on the inside and steep ramps out back out.

would have to be a big sw though coz of the pt leo headland to the south, and you wont get anything bigger than a 4.7m down the track to the beach.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies. The google maps are great windaddict, I went and had a look accross the road from the BP on the way home from work yesterday arvo. It looks the goods on a WNW too. I normally go to Rye but this is much closer to home (closer to home = more time on the water). What do you reckon? Rox, you sail at Merricks a bit by the sound of things. Have you sailed at Balnarring or Pt. Leo? If so, what conditions have worked for you at these spots or is Merricks the best? Old Salty, I haven't looked at the Vic sectionbmuch, just in the general forum but I will give it a go. Ta

RE: Safety Beach, does Arthurs Seat play with the wind at all on a S-SW?

Also haven't been there myself but I know the Mt. Martha boys go to Pt. Leo a lot on the SW. I think this allows you to ride 'left foot forward tack' on the way in for wave riding.

I can vouch for Mt. Martha in a SW to WSW. Can get some nice ramps there too.

Im with leman and old salt, head to Mount Martha on the sw always other people there to sail with. just be aware of the small reef that is about maybe 40m out from the beach 45deg down wind on a sw, its not a problem just need to know its there.

Yeah if there is a bit more south then Arthurs seat can cast a bit of a wind shadow, but I have had some really good sails at all 3 mentioned spots.

Leo or shoram is good for a SW on the other side.
