On my way home from work tonight I spotted some sailors rigging up and launching from Port beach, fremantle. Its the first time i have seen people sailing from here. Is it purely a winter / wind direction thing?

It's closed to windsurfers in the summer months but open during winter. You don't want to sail it if there's too much W in her cos the shorey gets mean.

cheers Leech.

I thought that was the case. The shore dump reminded me of good old south coast Uk sailing. i may give it a go if i can escape from work in good time.

There were a few guys at gearie's, bit big and wild for me, I joined hardy & elmo on the estuary. Between us we managed to get to equal first for about an hour, then Chris Lockwood and his mates posted and blew us out of the water!

Decrepit, mate you guys are doing OK And Hardie with the new toy, reckon your crew is on the money.
Yep Chris did get a good run in, he came back with a big grin, just as I was setting up. Didn't ask how good, but he looked very happy when reading NAVi unit
Was a shocker of a late afternoon, rain squalls and all Only got half a run in before it all turned pear shaped.

Last time I was there (late 2006) there was a sign saying no windsurfing or kitesurfing from October to March, or something like that.

I blame the kites.

However, I was rigging up during the closed period one time and I was approached by a member of council walking her dog, who urged me to send letters to the council to ask for a rigging area and better beach access. I pointed to the sign and said "to be honest I don't think I'm welcome here" and she said "oh, don't be put off by that"

:S confused :S
