I'm after a wave board that I can use in almost all conditions (too poor to own more than one board). Something I can get for between $500 and $1000. I'm 80kg and would describe myself as intermediate on the waves - so I value ease of turning and stability ahead of being able to really snap the turns. Can you recommend me some boards?
Much appreciated.

Well closer to $1000 you could get a JP or Starboard. And for your skill level maybe 78/80l. You could pick up an older model for cheaper. My first Expoy board was a Delta which was pretty good. Not in the same league as a JP, but still a very good board.

go for quarto or goya, you can get some really good second hand ones, for around 700 or 800 from windshack, i got mine for 500 a 04 but to me felt exact same as the 05, i spend 500 he had another 69 for 700, and i think he has heeps more, he is usally willing to let you take a few out for a test as well, but quatro are the best brand i have ever used, my 69lter is better handling for me than the 86, but its really personal choice,

I'm with Zed: 78-82L. Get a new school wave board: star evo, jp real world wave, rrd cult, tabou pocket, kinetic euphoria etc.

Roger. Sorry Jordo, no full on DTL rockered boards for an intermediate waverider. He needs speed thru the turns and a good cross-onshore oriented board that also does DTL pretty well.
EVO80 or JP RWW

Yep, go for for a Freestyle wave type board of whatever brand though I would suggest that the fin is the thing that makes the difference with this type of board so a wave dedicated as well as a bump n jump style fin will max your water time in WA in summer. As long as the deck & heel areas are good & the nose is original you should be OK.

...and what ever you do don't buy Big Al's old FSW board. Rumor has it some fool tried to double loop it and had a little accident.

Definately keep away from the DTL boards, you can always get one when you progress down the track. The evo, JPrww, tabou pocket wave in about 80 litres would cover you for most conditions and still allow you to keep using them in years to come.

Because you are looking for a one for all board I will agree and say either the evo or JP FSW but I don't like all these guy who say definatly no DTL boards. I only have 1 wave board and it just happens to be a 79lt naish comp wave. I use it in any wind and any size waves that my skill will allow. So basically anything up to mast high.

If you buy an old board you will be able to excuse yourself for still being a kook. Why would you leave yourself with no excuses?
Seriously, spend the money and buy a current wave board. Sale it until its sit and sell it to a real kook.
