Just started stripping off old grip... like having a paper cut on your scrotum and slowly dripping lemon juice on it...

SHQ told me it was too hard to do. Suggested I wrap tennis raquet grip around it instead. Anyone tried that?

My boom start flaking grip but only at some most used spots by the mast.
I wonder if replacing only 10 -20 cm could be the answer.

As for tenis raquet grip - yes I did tried similar- but is very bad for your wet hands, but I managed to use my carbon boom with such grip till the whole boom broke eventually in half..

Red,

How are you trying to get it off - not too hard.....

Stand it up on end then run a Stanley trimmer down it
(don't worry too much about leftover little bits)

Then do it with Glue-Rid or similar - toluene will do

Then sand with a 40 - 60 grade sandpaper

Try this. cut it off with roughly with stanley then get some old downhaul rope, loop it around the boom then pull on either end of rope spinning the rope around the boom
will clean it up nicely

Im doing the same.

Just replacing the front half though cause the rear looks ok.

Im running a sharp knife up the boom to get most of the grip off and then am getting a cloth soaked in acetone to remove the rest of the resin.

Its a messy job but the acetone cleans up the aluminium quite well.

Be careful using acetone with carbon though cause it may affect the cured resin in the carbon.

Checkout whitelion windsurfing (just google it) as he has a good instructional page for boom re-grip.

by the way, what are you going to use as an adhesive for the new grip?

Ha, I don't think they would use that as their marketing pitch!
