well not on the freeway, but on the part that runs along side it from mill point down to the canning,, everytime i drive past when it's howling), I'm always dissapointed that there's no one windsurfing it as it looks like the best part of the river to sail on
anyone done it where did u launch did u cause a massive pile up on the freeway from rubber neckers
errr and what about sailing on the river inbetween cbd and south perth??
ive done both of those, i always launch from south perth yacht club at the moment and so yeah when its a west/northwest u can rip up and down the freeway
fortunately or unfortunately there was no massive pile up on the freeway
be careful. There are plenty of limestone rocks that are very shallow up towards South Perth and the Narrows. I remember back around '90 going for it along there in a westerly and smacking into one of those rocks at full tilt, putting my fist through the rig into a rock, hacking my feet up, snapping the fin off and walking back to my bike trolley to find some **** had let BOTH my tyres down. I never did that again.
FilthyAm might say ocean, ocean ocean but he and I sailed there one day in quite the westerly. I also met the rocks but no where near as disasterous as slowboat. When the water gets flat consider gybing.
i'm with u filth, ocean everytime - river makes your new shiney white board look like poo... but when i drove past today the waves were bigger than they were at crazys on tue, top spray all over the freeway too - nice.
It was probably november last year. I had a light wind starboard carve and I think you had your mistral. I have also seen you a couple of times at Dutchies with your busted f2. I would have been on an Acid. But I spent most of the summer at Scarbs cause I live up there now. Its easier on fins. Can't understand the attraction of Dutchies. I'll point my self out next time I see you.
I do remember the water being really flat, but I guess that was my undoing. Flat open water = shallow. It was funny though because as soon as I discovered the flat tyres and belted out some special magic words, my mum appeared on the freeway overpass. WTF I thought??? Where did she come from? And how's that timing??? Especially considering thats the only time I ever sailed there. I wish I remember exactly those magic words. Could come in handy again one day.
But I was happy. It saved a LONG walk home. Turns out she just wanted her 6.4m back cos I stole it. Lucky I only trashed the 5.5m. Groms sharing gear with folks... ahhh the memories.
