i have a shed and was wondering if anyone out there has storage tips for sails and boards
im mainly concerned with how hot the shed would get and does this shorten the life of sails and boards
i know leaving sails in direct sunlight is no good

biggest potential problem is leaving the vent plug done up!!!!
Otherwise, boards, if they've been heat cured should be fine to about 60C. If they haven't been heat cured it's possible the weave pattern of the cloth will show up as the resin contracts a bit. Don't think sails are a problem either, it's mainly UV they don't like.

fishy mate,
keep the sailing gear dry and well out of the way of your home brew equipment.
dont let wet sails drip on past issues of penthouse as this can stick the pages together and cause problems later.
hope this helps.

Fish,

Make up some good racks, makes storage of boards easy (until the collection gets to big)

it all depends on how big the storage space is and how much gear you've got.

IMO the best way to store sails is standing up in a plastic 200L drum, no monofilm crinkling occurs and mice cant easily get in and make a meal of your luff sleeves. I havent had any problems from having boards or masts stored in shed, I wouldnt store them too close to the roof though.

Best thing is to save shed for other storage, leave your sails fully rigged and let them bake in the sun this will dry everything out for you, leave vent plugs in boards and also leave in sun, this will help fill out dings and creases!!

Hope this advice helps!

chuck some hooks in the roof, take the tension of so your amst is straight and hang the sails up by your boom
always have the head of the boom connected to the hook, otherwise your battens will get fu**ed up
