Hi all,
i have a problem. I just bought a second hand sailworks race sail and I am having problems with the cams popping off the mast when gybing. It's as if they aren't pushed up hard on the mast once rigged. I've tried pulling more downhall on but I'm pretty sure that's not it. I tightened the battens but I'm pretty sure that's not it. I use a 30% carbon arrows mast so I'm pretty sure that's ok. Has anyone had any experience with tensioning the cams? I know they are adjustable but I'm not 100% clued up on which way to pull or loosen...Any advice would be great.

thanks Hobie, I've actually just done that too. Not really clear though but I'll muck around and see what I can do.
thanks for the reply.

What year is your race sail? most of the later sailworks race sails have adjustable cams, you simply pull or loosen the strap on the cam to suit the mast diameter and tension of the battens.
The older race sails mid 90's came out with micro cams check to see that they are not broken.

Hi choco,
it's a 98 SX race and it has the vario cams which are adjustable. What I'm not sure about though is if I'm meant to pull them tighter or loosen them off. I guess I'll have to wait till daylight so i can rig it again and muck around with it.
