i'm looking for tips regards race/slalom fins for an upcoming purchase..

does anyone have any suggestions for something around 44cm with tuttle base.
it will be run with an 8.5 sail and 109lt rrd fireball 71 slalom board. i am about 98kg. i already have a 42cm Torquay World cup slalom but need something for the lighter breezes. say 12-18 knots. prefer something with a solid tip and fast both off the wind and upwind.

so far on the list

Deboichet SL1 or SL2
G Sport SR-6b
Tectonics F8 Tomcat or Mirage
C3 (do they still exist)?

does anyone have any experience with these or similar that they could recommend or let me know the real world difference.

If anyone out there has something suitable for sale too that would be good.

cheers gestalt.

I have a couple of tectonics goldwings, 33 and 36. Have found tectonics to be sweet!!! One thing, I work on a goldwing size of ~2 cm longer than recommended size by board manufacturer (I use the 36 cm instead of recommended 34 cm).

cheers for the help pugwash.

the board i got came with a 36cm and is recommended with a 7.5 max sail. so i am pushing things a bit with an 8.5 and 44cm fin.

i looked at a 36cm goldwing recently for when the wind is pumping. seemed pretty sweet. great to hear you like them a lot.

i will follow you +2cm thoughts. i always go a bit bigger normally as i am a heavyweight.

cheers

Hey Gestalt,
I use a 8.5 on my Falcon 111 and its sweet. Im 92 kgs.I use a 44cm Curtis CR10. Its got a failry wide tip which is good for getting going in lighter winds but not particularly fast. But hey thats the point for light winds.
I would love a 46 cm Goldwing.
They were for sale on Maui for $185 US.
Definitely the Tectonics, they are unreal fins.
The 111 is 69 wide and only 2 ltrs in difference from your board so you should be fine
