Reminds me of last winter when I saw a shark here, about 2-3m long.

We have a long beach that slowly curves for about 15km and a NW is cross off at one end and pretty much cross-slightly onshore at the other. The sandbanks change along it so you just drive the beach til you find a spot with nice direction and a nice peeling righthander. Anyway, after about 2-3km I stop to have a look, nice sunny day with 12-15kn and head hi waves. Bit marginal to plane, but a grovel out would mean a rewarding ride in. Then I see aforementioned shark cruising along about 50m out, just behind the break. ..... and he just keeps going in the same direction (as I was driving). Watched him swim about a kilometre. I thought, "no worries I'll drive back a kilometre, was still nice there, and by the time I go out he'll be 5km away".
Still could not bring myself to sail there by myself even knowing he'd be 5km away, let alone 500m!!!!!
