Hi, is it a reasonable option to get a severne turbo 2013 9.2 for my futura 131 wood 76 wide? I can get it relatively cheap from my friend. I am an intermediate lvl 95kg. I have also ncx 8.0 pro and gator 6.5. I know 9.2 is probably better on a bugger 85 wide board. Does anybody have any experience pairing this size futura or similar board with such a big sail.?? Thanks in advance

Sail range for 131 goes up to 9.5

9.2 fits in the suggested sail range

I guess if you are looking at larger sails you feel the need to get going in lighter winds. Or plane more consistently thru lulls. All this at your weight (similar to me) suggest the 9.2 is a useful sail Especially with the cams

so more info. What are you hoping to gain from the 9.2. Do you have the mast and boom suitable?

What size fin are you using with 8ncx?
Cheers jeff

very happy on the 141 futura at 80cm wide

6.5 - 9.5 sails used

If you are getting it from a friend borrow it for a session and if you like it then go for it and if not you'll know not too.
The opertunity to try should be taken.

At 95kg. you might be okay. The 141 futura @80cm wide, with 9.2 turbo works very well at 13-15knts. and my 90kg. weight.
It's a fun combination until you drop it.....
Have you thought about foiling?

i wanted better gliding through lulls, and earlier planning in 11-14 knots. I have adequate boom enigma 210-260 and mast 490 which fits. Hm didnt considered foiling yet

i am using stock fin c3 venom 48 with my ncx pro 8.0, also using caas mast 490, which is made specifically for this sail. Both ncx pro and turbo are 2013 so mast curve should be the same.

You will

And don't feel like your not good enough it's very common for average Joe windsurfers to take up foiling.

No pun intended to Joe windsurf

Fins are also a big part of lightwind planing. Ive not tried C3 venom fins. But highly recommend Select S1 Pro, S1 Evo slam. Has got me planing earlier is fast n has great control thru chop. Im using 51cm on 77cm wide board. Gets going in a couple of knots less wind n is a couple of knots faster top end. Win win situation. Big grins.

++ bigger fin. Try some bigger 50cm+ fins. Not sure what the max for 131 is however its an easy experiment

What size fin was your friend using with the 9.2?

cheers Jeff

My fox is 140 is 78 and with fins between 46 and 50 it take a Overdrive M1 8.6 really well but I wouldn't go any bigger on it

Heres what ive found. Measure OFO of board. Thats your starting point middle fin size if your average weight. If youre a heavy weight Go +2-4cm for light wind depending what style fin. Go minus 2-4cm for strong winds.

Go for it. I have used my 9.4 overdrive with Fox 140 which is 78 wide and they go beautifully. Have used 9.5 on an iSonic 110 which was 75 cm wide and that was fine. As a fin wuss I use 46ish fins with the mid 9 sails and that combo feels pretty good.
