morning all.

i was hoping i might get some help from some of you regarding a starter kit. i have a 4m long board, approx 60 wide with dagger board, which i have been using for a couple of months (when condtions have allowed), and i have recently bought a fanatic bee, 135 l 2.9 long, wobbly as sh-t. i do not have anything suitable for this sail wise, not that it matters, i dont think i am good enough to use it anyway. i only have knackered old kit which came with my previously mentioned canal barge. the sails are only suitable for learning the absolute basics, so i am looking to get hold of a sail, mast boom, mast foot, suitable for both boards which will help me progress without making it impossible to use. i realise this is easier said than done, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. the more i look into buying kit, the less i know what i actually need. can anyone help?

cheers.

First question is what sort of fittings are both the boards. Because they are prity old they are probably not as usiversal as they are these days where all boards just have a track. As for a rig i have a full set up which would last well because it is prity new and you could use it on any new board or old, asuming the uni joint fits. Would fit your fenatic bee you bought but not so sure about the other. You might not have any newer sail fit on the older board, only the old triangle ones. This is because you wont get enough downhaul with the universal joint they use.

Rig for sale:
- 2002-2003 5.3m2 Gaastra Manic sail (Used with some tares in mast sleve and one of the pannels. Nothing to major that will effect performance of sail.)

- Powerex Z-axis wave, 30% carbon 430 mast.

- HPL Proline Wave boom (some tares on the grip and slight crack in head but still fine. Comes with harness lines, brand new neilpryde uphaul line etc. If you don't have a harness i can find one in the garage, makes it so much easier).

- Universal joint (baseplate + extention in excellent condition).

I'm thinking $350 for the lot. Let me know if you are interested. The newer sails will provide more power for their size compared to the old triangle ones, especially if you rig them correctly for the conditions. About how many knots do you sail in mainly.

dont forget about the whole, better upwind ability, lets the power out easier, but locks it in even better, you will have longer sessions because you dont have to fight the sail so much, etc etc,
