damn i love it when you come back from a sail buzzing from excitement
when i tell my wife of my sailing session she just says "slow down your talking too fast"
then at 1100pm im still laying in bed eyes wide open waiting for the addrenalin to wear off
does this feeling ever go away for some of the sailors who have sailed for many years
i want it to stay

No. Nothing more than i love is the feeling when everything is rigged and in tune, the wind is perfect,no gusts, and just planing flat out, racing against tha masses. Sailing untill the sun sets, un rigging with the car headlights on, getting home feeling sore and salty with a big grin on my face from a great day of sailing.

Hi Greenroom,
First went on a board when i was about 10 years old, loved it then, love it now. The only difference now, is that i hate sailing in ****ty conditions, but when it's on, I have the same buzz as i did 23 years ago. Bear in mind , that for all my working life i have been in the windsurfing industry, so have been around the sport every working day, but still i do not lose that spark.

You guys have inspired me so much I registered and made my own post.

I still rememeber the first time I planed, thinking to myself -Is that supposed to happen? I thought I was flying - almost a religious experience.

I will never lose that feeling. The feeling that you cannot describe to a non-windsurfer. It is useless even trying. They cannot
understand unless they too dedicate themselves to it like we have.

Maybe that's the reward for our persistence.

That feeling that will never go away.

In old surfer parlance, that's called STOKED!!!!
And sorry Hardie, I see you and raise you 20 years.
Built my first board in 61 and that feeling started shortly after, and yeh, 40 odd years later, it's still there. Windsurfing/surfing don't quite rule my life anymore, but I'm out there most times it's "on" and feel just as great afterwards.
