My 430 mast got stuck on the w/e and I'm struggling to get it apart. I know, I will be more conscious of clearing sand/grit when rigging in future. Even though it's only been two days, the thing seems intent on staying stuck. I've had the rubber gloves onto it (for grip!), I've tied some webbing round my tow bar, complete with glove, to mast, and twisted to no avail. Admittedly, I'm still waiting to get a few mates onto it, but this one seems to be more stuck than when I have previously encountered the problem.
I don't want to be carting round a 1pce mast - Any tips out there for getting it apart?
Crikey Fossil, sounds like she's Kangaroo Edward (Roo-Ted). I will give you $25 for it as I am looking for a jousting stick to use against my mates on our dirt bikes. You wouldn't have an pair of old boxing gloves in the shed, to gaffer tape to the tip too???
Just jokes Mate! There has been a very similar thread on this common problem. Easiest way is if you have two booms...
On the bottom section wrap a peice around the mast about 20 or 30 times. On the top section wrap the other peice about 20 or 30 times in the other direction.
Tie a loop in the end of the rope on each peice. Then get two leverage devises, crow bar etc and put one in one loop and turn so that the rope tightens onto the mast. Put the other bar in the loop turning in the opposite direction so that you creat two "torque wrenches out of rope. If you break the seal of the sand by turning, the masts will then release.
