i have been thinking of selling my 85ltr starboard fish for a more traditional wave board. i havnt used it that much, and i what i have used of it, i didnt like compared to my free wave, and my wave boards. but if i do get rid of it, i will be getting rid of my light wind wave board. im thinking of getting a quatro or goya 75 to 80 lter instead. do you think this is a good idea, or should i just hang onto it. i have just recently got my high wind 69 lter quatro and i love it, took it out today, and taking it out tomorrow, but for me who is 70kg, do you think it is worth getting a 75 or 80lter wave board for the lighter wave days or keeping my short fat fish.

Sorry jordo can't help with the fish, I've never sailed on one.
But I'm about the same weight as you and my light wind wave board is somewhere between 85 & 90 litres. This gives me very comfortable "groveling" between 12 & 15 knots, and is still quite usable up to 20kn.

It's an evo style board 7' 10" X 23" X 5", sorry if imperial doesn't mean anything to you, but that's what's in this old head!
I've an idea length is 2390mm and width 570/580mm, thickness 125mm

should mention the boards i have for waves, i have a 100ltr jp free wave, a 85leater fish, and a 69 lter quatro wave, i also have a 110lter starboard carve for flatwater/ small chop blasting and a 160 lter go, so im thinking of getting rid of the 85 fish for a more traditional waves

i weigh around 70kgs and my board is like 85ltrs. i rekon if i was rich enough to have more then one board my light wind board would be around the 90ltr mark. im pretty sure u would still have good performance in waves with a 90ltr.???????

Keep the fish, they are a great board in the right conditions with that fat tail and little thruster fins.

Sell the fish, your JP will do fo flat water bump and jump and light wind onshore days when the waves are small. Rig it with a 6.5 wave sail down to 5.5. Buy a smaller wave fin for the JP (22cm) Then have a second set up - the 69 litre, for when there is genuine wind and waves. Rg it with it with a 5.0 and smaller.

This way you have 2 distinct set ups which will get you sailing in a wide range of conditions with out srtuggling with a decision of what to use ehrn. The JP with a wave fin will do the same job as the fish although it may be a little less manoverable.

cheers
Tim
