been using a jp superx104 for light wind, grovelly, wave days, it gets me out there, a few jumps, maybe some diagnols on the wave but thats it.

are there any fishy / evoish type boards in the 105 range that work well on the wave? and are a piece of piss to get on the plane using a 6 - 6.5??

or do i need to loose 10kgs
maybe another attempt on everest

Good question at 90 kgs (too many hot CROSS buns)(I get a bit anxious this time of year)and with these crap light winds watching the bulimics and anorexics sailing around I wonder the same question.

I think you have to change your mindset, I have a 125 Lt custom, built for light wind days on the ocean and wave riding, it feels cumbersome in the waves compared to my waveboards. However, If I tell myself it's like surfing a 10 foot Mal, instead of a 6ft thruster, then I enjoy it for what it is. So you don't need to change your gear, just change your expectations about it........ Lot cheaper and less frustrating!!!!!

I have a 100lt+ Delta Euphoria custom, a waveboard built for Reg, that he didn't like but that I love, and for a board of it's size, it's very loose and manouvreable, if you got the doe, then you go custom, or try some of the larger production models, I'm sure there are some demo boards around?

good point

but you don't get the sms's when it's 14 - 15knts YELLOWSVILLE!!!

and then yer sailing buddy is 'yeeeee haahing' whilst dropping down the face on a 76 and a 5m in 14knts of wind,,,MR G..whilst i grovel...... i'm like ...stoked for him... but wishing i wasn't such a porka...it's so unfair ,, all the light weights get the best boards, smaller sails, more sail time, boo hoo hoo,

Apparantly the lightboys don't do so well when their knees have been reshaped by baseball bats, apparently slows them right down, Maybe Mr G needs to learn the old baseball bat lesson of respect .....Then he might just not show up his obese elders anymore

Ive seen a coupla guys ripping on 102L Freestyle Waves and 5.8, 6.2 and even 6.7 sails.
If you're big enough to need that size board (and I am) then you should be big enough to move em around, same as a little runt (Mr G) on a little board.

Hi Windy,

Well I'm 90 Kilos and I had a ball on my 96L Fanatic freewave in 14/15kn at Corros early this season.

course its not like using your little waveboard but I reckon bigger wave/freewaves are worth having in your quiver.

PS Greeny was there, think he was on a fish...

I notice Starboard have dropped the Aero from they're line up. So maybe that's a "no" from them

hi leech, the aero is now part of the Kombat range.

always wanted one myself. love the idea of a floaty board for the surf. sometimes the waves are just too big for the formula kit.

I've got the Exocet Cross 117 for days when I'm desperate. It gets me out there, points upwind, turns on the wave but nothing radical. It's bigger sails that I find annoying on low wind days and the reason I usually prefer to just surf on those days.

Try a Fanatic Freewave 104. they plane quick, go upwind well and are great on a wave.
Im 90 kgs and with a 6.2 wave sail I have no problem getting going in gusty lightish winds.
Plus you can set it up as a free ride board and blast around.

Windy,

I use my Fish 97 for the light days with sails up to 6.9m! Works pretty well with my 110+Kgs. The good thing about the 6.9m wave sail is that it makes the 6.5 seem small!

Cheers, Jens

Hey Sinker... yeah I was there. Miller and Hards was there too.
From memory it was heaps fun. Gave the Fish 86 and 76 a good run and the Evo 70 even got wet.
I think there was a late morning when it turned 15knots and you and I were the only ones out getting waves?

Adam you are right!
latest rewiew attached...

From: Windsurfing mag. USA

GOYA X1 105 Airseries

Sail Range: 4.5 to 7.0

WHAT WE LIKED:
Its only 14.25 pounds, which translated into excellent early planning, a responsive ride
And great pop for jumps. It also was catlike on edge, which had expert testers postulating
about its real-world wave applications.
BUYER BEWARE:
Its not a speed board, and a touch too wide and lively for ultapowered go-fast bump and jump sailors.
BETTER THAN THE FLEET AT:
Well, the obvious freestyle maneuvers, but its early planning and fun-riding sensation were eye-opening,
even among long time freeriders.
BEST SUITS:
Intermediate to experts looking for a compact, stable, maneuverable shape to get their planning for their
next move.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:“Best straps in the world”, one tester said about its MFC foot straps.

MY VERY PERSONAL COMENT:
Board is a “wow” factor when you pick it up, MFC Freestyle pro fin…no ****!

Ciao
Alberto
