jp747 I have the exact same thing. You think you are over it one day but the next the aches will be back and you wake up in the morning just not feeling 100% right.

I went out for a week straight in Sydney couple weeks ago and ever since I haven't really been too well. Muscle aches, fever, headaches, common cold symptoms. Same as you described.

Was thinking of going to the doctors but as I said some days you'll think you'll be over it then it'll hit you the next day again. I may go now -shrug-

Inflamed joints? Try a couple Neurofen Plus after each session but make sure you eat something before you take them... the codeine in the tablets should help.

BTW, welcome to getting older.

or... the flu? Like the real flu, not the one everyone says they have when they actually have a cold.

If it hit you very quickly. Like a couple of hours between feeling alright to feeling like absolute s**t. Then I reckon its the flu.

Below courtesy of Wikipedia:

"Symptoms of influenza can start quite suddenly one to two days after infection. Usually the first symptoms are chills or a chilly sensation, but fever is also common early in the infection, with body temperatures ranging from 38-39 °C (approximately 100-103 °F).[50] Many people are so ill that they are confined to bed for several days, with aches and pains throughout their bodies, which are worse in their backs and legs.[1] Symptoms of influenza may include:

Fever and extreme coldness (chills shivering, shaking (rigor))
Cough
Nasal congestion
Body aches, especially joints and throat
Fatigue
Headache
Irritated, watering eyes
Reddened eyes, skin (especially face), mouth, throat and nose
In children, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain,[51][52] (may be severe in children with influenza B)[53]

It can be difficult to distinguish between the common cold and influenza in the early stages of these infections,[2] but a flu can be identified by a high fever with a sudden onset and extreme fatigue. Diarrhea is not normally a symptom of influenza in adults,[48] although it has been seen in some human cases of the H5N1 "bird flu"[54] and can be a symptom in children.[51] The symptoms most reliably seen in influenza are shown in the table to the right.[48]"

If you overdo it or run yourself down you can run your immune system down & activate any nasties hanging around ross river , chronic fatigue etc..don't sail a week in a row..don't know how you can do it ! I used to get bronchitis when I pushed myself too much.

advice well taken in the future as today I had a stuffy nose and running at times I just had to test a 111ltr board with a big sail normally I hate big sails but it zapped my remaining strength..i wanted not to push so as to heal easily

filthy amateur said it right I still got 7 of the symtoms less the first one drank 'Bioflu' just in case has ibuprofen and for nasal congestion..my throats dry sucking in air thru the mouth instead of the nose..today I overdid it again but stopped when I became a bit woozy tried a slalom 111 with a 75 which I don't normally use just to figure out what fin was best for it now my lower back's aching..siggghhh tell you this windsports are so addicting[}:)]Sorry mineral a bit of kiting was thrown into the mix which probably added a few of the symtoms..as of this writing a friend's texting me to go tomorrow at 9am..either I go big or small will see how young I still feel

Every one gets the flu some time during the year, grab a cup of concrete and harden the F#%$ up, you will come good.
