Hi all,

Moving to nsw for work, from vic and was wondering where to sail?
Im into sailing flatwater to bump and jump and gps speed sailing.
Been outa the loop for a while so when i relocate to central nsw im looking forward to the 3 hr drive to the coast to go sailing. Going to be in Parkes i think at this stage ( mmmm. fun! lol )so if someone could give some local feedback that would be sweet...

Cheers Lenny

Comrade wesdawindat

You're best bet from Parkes would be to head to Geroa.
A long drive yes... but for consistent summer wind its pretty hard to beat. I would be spewing if after 4 days of work I headed off on a mamoth drive for 4 days of r&r sailing only to have no wind.

Great bump and jump sailing along with some filthy wave action when its firing. That little stretch of coast from Gerooa south to Shoal Haven will pretty much cater for any wind direction so its a pretty safe bet for water time

I think you will find it'll take a bit longer than 3hrs to hit the coast from Parkes. I'm in Bathurst and the closest bit of coast is 3hrs away. If you are really desparate you could try Lake Cargellico or Burrendong Dam but inland winds are always gusty and variable in direction. Sailed out one day at Burrendong and without tacking or gybing ended up back where I started, interesting experience.

yes i think lenny knows all about inland waters being gusty and variable, that is when they have any water in them at all! go the drive!!! BTW, gh, that must have been pretty amazing, perfect if you can't gybe or tack!

Arr well, 3 , 4, 5 hrs who cares. we all know we wind junkies will do anything for our fix, and i have been in rehab for a year or so.
( 4.5 hr drive this weekend for a speed fix! )
The inland lakes or dams will be there for emergency's i will think as i miss the boyancy of the salt water, and steady consistant winds. Sound like im having withdrawls hey Easty!!! lol
Thanks Geoff and have fun on Sunday on Mt Panorama, I'd be there with bells on with a beer in my hand And have a few more for ol Brocky!
