With a long weekend coming up, and the forecast looking pretty **** up north, anyone got any advice regarding heading south to Denmark/Albany or Esperance? Are the long term forecasts on Ocean Outlook reliable/pessimistic/optimistic? The forecasts down there are low too, but if the forecasts are always on the low side, it may be worth a punt.

And, where are the best spots to go for sail down there?

cheers
steve

Esp looks like it will go off Saturday, probably Sunday also. If Friday's swell hangs around it will be big big (Wed was 3/4 mast and hollow as, Fri about the same or bigger). Sat should be at least 1/2 mast and 5.0 cross off weather.

For waves the place to be is Observatory beach (the start of 9 mile).
If the forecast is spot on, bring a change of undies

Long drive if it doesn't happen though.

Steve, You're probably already out and about but...
We just spent a week in Denmark, getting home yesterday. SE winds from 15-20 by about 9-10am, then 18-23 after lunch. Launching from Poison Point for a bit of flat-water blasting/chop-hop.
DON'T drive out on sand at Ocean Beach in 2WD, even if it looks solid. We had to get a local in an old Landy to tow us out after jumping out for five min to check depth of water (far too shallow anyway!) and getting bogged to the axle . Many thanks to that man!!!! Take a wettie too!!!
