I am from Hong Kong and will be travelling in early Oct to Perth with my wife. Would like to windsurf in Safety Bay during our 7 days holiday.
Heard that the safety bay will be closed in Winter time, so wondering by the time we visit gowindsurfing is the center re-opened ? 3 questions I would like to ask as below.,
- any recommendation on accomodation nearby the center or we should better stay in the city. Is it too far away.
- How is the weather like, still too cold ?
- how often the wind can come over 12 knots ?

Dont know if Simon is open at this time of the year. Still very early in the season and you will be lucky to get any decent seabreezes at this stage. Usually around the late November/early December does the wind start to warm up and kick in. You may have to look at going further north if you want to catch some decent breezes.
Good luck

Not quite sure what you mean by "safety bay being closed". Anybody can sail there any time of year.
There should be plenty of local accomadation at that time, (motels, holiday cottage rental, bed & breakfast) try a google search of accomodation, Rockingham/Safety Bay Western Australia.
Min overnight temp in October around 10C max day time high 20s Don't know if that's cold for you or not.
The seabreezes are just starting at that time, so you could get a couple of days over 12kts in your 7 days.but not likely to get much over 15.
As shi thouse says, the winds further north are much better then.

Send Simon an email. He's in Fiji now as far as I know, but reads his email regularly.
Ask him when the Safety Bay centre is open again when you are there. If not, there's a few shops in Perth that can rent the gear to you, and you can sail in Safety Bay or anywhere else you want.
From what I've seen on historical data, the sea-breezes are just starting up again in October, so you might be in luck. Having said that, last year wasn't that good until December/January (from what I saw).
I found it hard finding good/cheap accomodation in Safety Bay when I was there, but its not that far from Perth, so you could easily stay anywhere and still not travel too far. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was about 30 minutes travel time from Perth.
There are bed and breakfast places to stay at, and you should be able to find a few on the web.
