I am living in Finland and thinking of continue my studies and come to finnish my master degree in Australia. To be honnest I am not only intressed in studing, most of all looking for a place where I can handle the school and windsurf as much I can. I think the WA would be the place, and I believe that I have guite good possibilies to arrange the exchangestudent place to Australia if I just find a suitable Universty where to study New Media, Arts or Business.

If we now forget the details of studies and focus more in Windsurfing, what would be the best place to live, study and windsurf in Australia? I know you propably are lauching, but I am looking for place where the wind is constant, the city is fun and the Universty is OK :) Sounds like heaven and the nearest place I know could find in WA!! Am I right?

I have read that you have pritty good winds (December - March)... so if I come there in December 2005, I have good time to arrange everything needed. If everything goes well, I will bring my own gears and propably buy or rent a car if needed. Of course it would be a super if the spots would be so near the University that car isn't necessary, but even I can't believe its possible :)

I would be really thankful to all of you, if you would help me to find the place...the best combination of the University, surfspots and fun living!!

Thanks!

Came to Perth to complete studies and windsurf. That was 10 years ago.

Luckily, the university gave me a job.

There are quite a few people here who have done the same.

Education try Curtin website www.curtin.edu.au or ECU www.ecu.edu.au

Windsurfing www.windsurfingwa.org.au

Cheers

Perth is a lovely place to live. Lots of places to go windsurfing for all different levels from flat water to waves and the people here are friendly as well.

As far as windsurfing near a university goes, Pelican Point is right next to the University of Western Australia. Check out the university at http://www.uwa.edu.au. There are also plenty of other places to sail around the river. Then there is the ocean right here as well.

Hope this helps.

Oh yes. Came to Perth to do an MBA and never left. That was 8 years ago. I had the same selection criteria...quality of windsurfing/studying and $$$. If you find a place that beats Perth for that, let me know, I may carry on a PhD there :-)
Just make sure you don't take any summer courses...

Sounds like u need to come to UWA. its the only uni with a real social life. if ur up for river sailing as Lesley said it would suit u perfectly. But in reality u wanna come to perth for the proximity to the awesome wave sailing around the state (and the occasional sic session in town).
There is a fair sized crew of windsurfers who study at or work at UWA. If u define fun living as drinking with a wicked bunch of crew, then UWA is definitely the place for u.

Hi thanks! I have read lots of Perth and it surely sounds like a great place. I found a very good site while ago (windsurfwa.com/index.html) and the spots descriptions, pics & well written stories boosted my thoughts to come WA.

The coastline is wide and there is probably lots of good places for great windsurf, but if you say Perth is the place to stay, I surely believe you. I have to start go through those Universities...but already the first look of the UWA & ECU looked great!

I don't know do you know anything about the windsurfing in Finland, but if you will look the next movie clip, it will tell you everything: Only low-pressure winds, waves a few times in a year and usually during spring and fall when the weather is too cold to enjoy the session :) Not a surfing paradise!
