i replied skizz66 on the thread ka ok? and laughed at what he had to say. i guess mine was to put it again was 10+yrs. ago trying to impress 4 dudettes sitting on a beach watching me goin' full speed towards them on the last leg of a crossing from the mainland. of course you try to put your picture perfect stance. a few metres to go and holy!@#$ lowtide the corals were partly jutting out..so kapak! catapulted and tumbled right onto the sand a foot from their feet(literally). i just had to laugh it off and they did too more. good enough i knew one of them was luckily my neighbour but still....

nice, i like mine tho, i was down on the river in 25-30 knotts and just planing along and this guy just does a spock 540, and pulls it off perfectly, and i go past, not looking where i was going, because i was staring a t him, i hit some chop and look like im atemping a spock for my self, and get to around the 60 degree mark, and then get flung strait onto my head, every one thought i was trying a spock, and at that stage i could barley even do a chop hop.

yep i knew somebody was gonna imply thatmark as i rolled by first glimpse was there knees folded up but still good scenery..strange when your in catapult mode,oh cowdung.. eerie silence then sky, water then splash sound and checking if everythings intact..absolutely no mercy but great whipping action and jarring bones! here's another one...flat water terminal speed hit a submerged cement bag, slammed my nose on to the panel(imprinted my nose on monofilm) heared my neck crackle. no problem after derigging, tried to get onto car but couldn't shift or step on clutch. went to hospital had neck x-rayed for pin's and needles on both arms..doc says spinal on neck part straight and should be c-shaped, was given muscle relaxant and some painrelievers and etc. to knock me out..knocked out i did on the bed with a grin on my face..

Or the one that leaves a perfect impression of your hand in the sails monofilm as you instinctively try and brace for impact.

Doing 30 knots, with a 6.8 in 35+ knots of wind hitting chop and catapulting, landing face first on the sail = broken boom and black eye!

Hitting the outside reef at a little place called Horton in Wales at top speed hooked in and falling on the boom from a decent height - bent the boom inwards to touch the sail (with my arm)! Managed to get in, lay on the beach, was taken to hospital and ended in a neck brace for a few weeks!

Nicely lit on a 7m in around 18 knots when my back calf muscle cramped not far from the beach. I remember trying to fall into the gap between the board and rig on the downwind side to avoid a catapult, I managed to hit the water, but then bounced instead of digging in like I'd hoped.

The rig powered up again, and I cleared the board on the way back over, got to the end of the harness lines, and started to spin. Pretty sure I skipped once on my back before being comprehensively buried headfirst. When I came back to the surface people on the beach where cheering or was it jeering? I never did figure out which as my calf was still cramped, and screaming out for attention.

I'm sure the harness line on that side is a bit longer than it used to be!

Sailing at Point Danger, Torquay when Polakow was still a young fellow (like I was). Sailing into shore. Point Danger has a car park perched high on the point itself and was full of cars being a Sunday afternoon. Coming in full powered up and though I'll carve a perfect gybe to show theses people what this sport is all about. Left it too late and ran aground and got thrown face first onto the sand in front of the car park.. the flashing headlights and the toots of the horns still haunt me to this day...

Not a catapult, but a similar incident/outcome while kiting last season. Couple of dudes in a tinny upwind of me who looked to be taking an interest in what I was doing. So, I edged up close and went for a backroll kiteloop and fkd it badly. After being momentarily dazed after hitting the water, I discovered the 2 guys were both standing up and giving me a golf clap and a cheer Oh the shame.....

Is it the perception of kiters that people are interested in what they are doing I am NOT!

I presume the kiters that come too close to me when I am on the water think I am interested in seeing what they are doing

Look at me mum...

Did you see my boost, did you... It was HUGE, at LEAST 20 foot

Sorry bonk, I have seen too many fools that kite...

I plane off the beach and hit the weed bank hooked in,feet in straps... when i untangle my self and surface all are cheering from the beach to make it worse i pull my rig from the water to see my sail torn completely in halfand drag my sorry ass back to the beach by this time the whole crew are rolling around on the grass

No skin off my nose. I try to get on well with (and respect) everyone on the water, regardless of whether they're a windsurfer or a kiter. Sorry your experience hasn't been as positive as mine.

Out at Seal Island, went for a forward, jumped, realised I wasn't going to make it so bailed, but in the process I hooked my harness onto the harness line. So board and rig went into a rotation, taking me with it, arms and legs flapping about in mid air. If I had landed it, it would have been the first no hands, no feet forward loop.

pheewe guys those hurt!ya show those people red!! who the crap thinks what others see in amazement! it feels fun nevertheless. mr.bonk a hard splat on the h20 no matter what and in hiwinds i'd call that a cataloop..i had a friend a burly big guy one of the first to windsurf circa 80's here was cruising with us on a formula and at least 70cm. of skeg. to figure out how deep we could go to shore we were looking at a local plowing the seabed for crustaceans with a plow net at shoulder deep. at 80% speed for everyone to catch up suddenly turned into a drag race...then suddenly you hear this 'kapak' and look back to see the formula board still about to flip..the reason? the guy plowing was kneeling down to check his net! man we were laughing all day long..zed, your's could have been a heli loop if you done it...

The catapult that resulted in several cracked ribs comes to mind. Nose of board obviously harder than ribs. Couldn't laugh or cough or anything else ending in -ugh for about six weeks.

I did keep sailing that day- adrenaline sure does mask pain well. It only really hurts after you stop. Sailing with a disclocated shoulder hurts a hell of a lot more.

My first one, almost two years ago, about 20 seconds after I planed for the first time...

"OH man the waves are standing still, wow so this is what they're on about with that planing word, hang on lean to turn, like a skateboard, yep wow that's cool, oh hang on... "

Ker - SMAK!!!
