Not windsurfing but these guys are going super good at the moment in high wind.

It's real time so if you click on it later when they are at the equator it might not be so fast

Yeah the 100ft Ultim Tris are completely bonkers. The record circumnavigation is near enough to 41 days....average speed over the whole journey almost 27kts...Just insane.

The 24hr record is almost 38kts, with top speeds at almost 48kts on that trip

That Gitana is amazing! Sooo fast! First 8 mins of this video! What fascinated me is the emphasis on aerodynamics of the hull structure to gain Knots of speed. Fantastic!

That brings us to another question. If our windsurfing sail is really the most efficient design? If there was any attempt to design two sails solution for windsurfers ?
One smaller at the front the provide extra for main sail?
It may not be practical for slalom racers requiring turns but for one way speed challenge could be beneficial.

If we wanted to be efficient we would be making smaller sails not bigger with flappy leaches

The 100' Ultime class. Is that the most expensive class of yacht racing? The IMOCA 60s take twice as long, spending a lot of time in non-foiling mode, but at least they can get a good sized racing fleet together.

Can the 100 footers weather any storm or do they rely on speed and satellite photos to skirt around them?

If you could do similar achievement on windsurfing board then also nice distance record will be recorded.+1300 km in one day !!
I could imagine the well designed windsurfing gear rig could be made self adjusting and self balancing, so you could even replace sailor with bag of potato, to get this same result.
Our hero could then sleep most of the time, as long as there is enough water in the front to sail straight.
