Just left Hardies Run with Binny being carried off in an Ambulance. She suffered a major laceration to the leg 30cm higher and it would have severed here femoral artery. Occurred during a collision with both parties unaware of each other.

Please LOOK and be aware of your surroundings!!!!!!

Just off to hospital now, she seemed ok, was in pain, and a bit of shock.

Trust all is well with Binny Joe - SRM best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Not wanting to get ahead of anything but...

I think it would help if you and/or Binny outlined the details of the incident because I have had so many near misses in the past 12 or 18 months that it scares me - with both sailboards and kites. All locations, Peli, Melville and Hardies!

If people are sailing a 'speed strip' they need to be aware that there is a real possibility that someone will drop from upwind at [possibly] very high speed! Look over your right shoulder!

The speeder obviously needs to take primary responsibility here, goes without saying, but as Hards says, ya need to be aware of your surroundings!

Binny,
Hope you get well soon & back on the water, all the best from the Perth Southsiders.

And yes, speed sailors going off the wind, give way to to sailors travelling in the same direction but down wind of you, they can't see you but you have a clear view of them.

Also beware of head on traffic, Melville is full of arrogant or ignorant sailors that either do not know the rules or choose to ignore them

Then there's the other idiots that sail within 1 metre down wind of you (in either direction) but have no idea that you could be nursing a fin that could spin out any second & take them out

Rant over!

Hope it's all good Joe

Thanx guyz just got back from hospital. She's stitched up and pumped full of antibiotics.

It appears she was hit in the calf by the nose of an old pointy nose board. The nose caused a deep laceration pushing out the calf muscle and body fat, was not a pleasant sight. Just missed the major artieries and nerves, so in one way she was lucky she could have bled to death, we were nearly 800 metres from shore.

Anyway she's out of action for a while and spewing big time, the big issue now is infection because of the deepness of the wound and the deep laceration of the calf muscle.

Coulda been worse so we'll count our blessings and knowing that our community is fully behind us helps quite a bit thankyou!!!!!!!

Binny says "Thankyou very much and it helps that you are thinking of me, very much appreciated, I'll have plenty of time to chat over the next few days"
