What's the best unit for recording speeds, downloading to www.gps-speedsurfing.com, showing tracks on google etc.
I know the Garmin units are good. Have seen alot of topics on the Navi unit. Any suggestions and advise would be great.

The future of GPS sailing will be with Doppler data analysis. The change will happen fairly quickly, (it has already begun). At the moment there are very few GPS units that record Doppler data. Those that record NMEA or Sirf Binary data have the possibility of recording Doppler data.
One of the very few that have this capability is the Locosys GT-11 (previously known as the Navi or Amaryllo).
This unit can also record trackpoint data with full accuracy (as accurately as any other consumer gps anyhow).
The GT-11 is also less than half the price of the Garmins etc. and is undergoing very rapid development with a focus specifically on speed sailing.
Its a pretty easy choice I recon.....

Muzza, same here, GT-11. Easy to use, lots using them so bugs get ironed out fast, and as Firiebob indicated, good price, and good support

Guys name is Simon, if you don't get a fast answer, ring him. GT-11 comes fully kitted up to go
Next spot is Surf and Sail here in Perth. You can order on line.

Just type in 'GPS' in the product search box, and it takes you direct to item.

Don't forget, no matter what unit you go for, even if it's supposed to be water proof, also get an aquapak for it.

The navi doesn't come with an SD card, but is much better with it. It's also sensitive to card manufacturer, it's best to get a "sandisk" brand, anything smaller than 2Gb
