I had a run down at Sandringham in the afternoon. Probably should have sailed up at The Grand Parade as it looked windier there when I drove past. Even so was still good to get out and get planing. I certainly prefer the grassed rigging area, abundant parking, uncrowded water and shorter walk to the waters edge down there. I better not spruik it up too much though for fear of more people sailing there.

I had a quick run yesterday also and before I went out I was watching some Moth dinghy racing. These were the ones with hydrofoils on them. I have to say I was super impressed with the speed those things generate when they are up on their foils. When they get going it is literally like someone fires up a jet engine and they accelerate at an amazing rate of knots. The thing that didn't impress me though was when they came in to gybe they ALL capsized as they couldn't carry the speed through the turn. They were so twitchy to any turning that they were uncontrollable and all the sailors could do was basically tip the boat over to stop, re right themselves and take off in the opposite direction. Fun to watch but I'll take my windsurfing over them anyday
