Remarks : Hey James, new SP40 is tested.
Glad we did the mission.
Conditions not epic for SP. But... there was one rain squall that came through that hit ~40 knots. Wind was very broad this afternoon 140-150 degrees. The chop was nuts at the end of the run.
Bottom of the course pulling out was fun. Pretty stoked to finally see 50 on the dial, next stop... the 500m.
New SP40 felt really sweet. Its a bit smaller than the SP44, and doesnt have the same liftoff tendency. Well done James. The KA 5.0 felt really stable. I rigged it very full without too much downhaul. The 20cm fin was rock solid. No spinout all day.
All up a memorable mission. The crew were here (in various states of disrepair), and Matt came over from Perth to check it out. Had a mission on the way over- picking up the SP40 from the international airport on the way to domestic, unpacking and repacking in the carpark. Bed time. 1 hour of plane sleep does not really help the energy levels "
Well done Chris. If we weren't all (add lame excuse here) we'd be nipping at your heals.. Yeah... right
AWESOME Effort Chris, Carbon Art, Ka A.McDougal !!!! all with off the shelf equipment. 49knot 10sec, thats cranking along considering not the best conditions.
Awesome effort Chris!!!!! Funny how once martin VM did it a lot of people were just waiting for Slowey to be the next, kind of like "when is Chris going to break 50?" Congrats!!
Wow Chris !!! I packed up quickly to get home and had no idea you had done that amazing speed , awesome . I saw you rip past when I was stopped way down the end of the course , and was in awe at how fast you were going in that knarly chop . You are the man !!!! Well done .
