One interesting comment in the description was the mention of production gear. About the only sailor (possibly) using custom gear is Chris Lockwood (slowboat) - even then, I think he uses a production model.

As for fast guys on production stuff @ 500m:

After looking at those photo's we are very lucky to have a place like Sandy Point in Australia.
I still cannot believe that none of these top speed(international) sailors have even bothered sailing at SP,they run around the world looking for the best venue but by far the best place is here in oz.......what are they scared that the locals will kick their butts.

only reason everyone goes to sandy point is cause they haven't heard of burrum heads....

Southeaster have started for 2008 so we'll start counting. It helps to live close and just go when every thing is right. Now until May we usually get SE'ers every fortnight and they usually last for 5-7 days. 35-40 knots is a big call for up here but 22-30 knots is common. Perfect us soft QLD'ers.
