In case you are wondering if it is for you I would encourage you to have a go. I started with the GPS recently: I love it
It allows me to see what works well, has encouraged me to improve because I want to beat my previous personal bests and has introduced me to a wider (and very encouraging/ friendly/ inclusive) group of sailors from many different backgrounds and age groups.
I have been sailing (not always very successfully but always with a grin on my face) for many years: this has really re-invigorated me.

So have a go. You do not have to get all new kit (I and many of the others I have met have not), you do not have to think about competing against others if you do not want to (I do it to improve my sailing) and it is great fun. What is more the suggestion is a free trial. How far wrong can you go with that?

No matter whether you are a seasoned windsurfer or relatively new to the sport this is great

p.s. maybe I look at my ranking in the individual tables a bit!

Agreed. I wish GPSes were around 10 years ago when I started drifting out of windsurfing and was doing other things with my time. Maybe its for the best as I got a degree, got married, ran a good business and made good money in those lost years.

We should run a similar day in Sydney. It would not take too much trouble. In fact if anyone in Sydney wants to try out my GPS and see how fast they go, let me know.

My story is kinda the opposite.I spent 7 yrs windsurfing on a shoestring budget ,living in my car on the beach at times well alot actualy.But what a time i had.Now i'm back at work(fulltime) making some money .
But hey wealth and status aint everything right? Could easy go do it all again at the drop of a hat.
Thats the great thing about windsurfing..The dude swimming in the pit as your bottom turning around him could be a Nuclear Physicist.....

Sorry Karl but I won't be able to back you up with a session tomorrow, unless I turn it on for the drive to Hawks Nest (hmmm, no, I couldn't). Maybe you can sign up some more members on the day. I'm sure they can post a score for tomorrow as long as they join before the end of the month.

Sailing strip at Sandringham - park in Riverside Drive, 100m east of St George sailing club, sandbar is off Pelican Pt.
sailed there a couple of saturdays ago.
Sandbar more exposed at lowish tide, so should be good from 12.30 onwards.
