save yourself a lot of pain and frustration and get a Navi GT-31. Locosys through Dr Chalko and the Mt Best site are supporting the GPS speedsailing scene and have developed firmware on their GPSes that work.

Plenty of guides on how to setup. No pain in transferring data. No pain in reading data. The Navis do the job. Once they are setup its so easy.

Navis are considered to be more accurate in their timings using dopler too.

the forerunner does not measure speed in knots.
i have a foretrex 101, the main problem i have with it is the limited storage.
when set to record at 2 second intervals its probably good for between 6-10hours which can be annoying if you are going away for a few days.

just picked up a secondhand NAVI GT-11 :) bring on the wind :)

yeah mate it already comes with a aquapac a 1gig and 2gig sd cards.
when are you guys coming to have a run on botany bay?

You won't regret having the GT-11 (vs. Garmin). I bought a Garmin e-Trex first, but it wasn't a patch on the GT-11 for speed sailing.

I reconfigured my GT-11, using this guide, from the GPS Team Challenge site - very succinct.
